Help Preserve St. George Greek Orthodox Church: A New Roof Needed

For nearly a century, St. George Greek Orthodox Church has been a spiritual home where generations have gathered to worship Christ and live the Orthodox Faith.

Founded in 1928 and established at our current Bloomfield Hills, Michigan location in 1966, St. George has served Orthodox Christians and the surrounding community through worship, fellowship, education, outreach, and service for decades. Within these walls, generations have gathered around the Holy Altar for the Divine Liturgy. Children have been baptized and chrismated, couples have been crowned in marriage, loved ones have been laid to rest, and families have come together year after year to celebrate the great feasts of the Church.

Today, our beloved parish community's home faces one of its largest maintenance needs since it was constructed.

After years of wear and continued repairs, our roof requires major work for a complete replacement. Following a careful review of several proposals, the total project cost is expected to be just over $450,000.

Our parish community is working diligently to raise funds to meet this need internally, but a project of this size is difficult for any parish to bear alone. We are therefore reaching beyond our local community and asking fellow Orthodox Christians, friends of the Church, and generous supporters across the country to help us preserve St. George for the generations to come.

To our church community, this is more than simply repairing a building. It is an investment in a place where the Divine Liturgy will continue to be celebrated, where children will continue to be welcomed in the Orthodox Faith, where families will continue to gather in prayer, and where the traditions entrusted to us will continue to be handed down from one generation to the next.
