After years of training, first at Desert Gymcats in Las Vegas and for the last 10 months at Eagle Gymnastics Academy in Frisco, Leighton earned a spot on the USA Gymnastics team for the 2026 Trampoline World Age Group Competitions. He'll compete November 12th - 15th in Nanjing, China.
He's an 8th grader who has put in countless hours on the trampoline to get here, and he'll be competing against some of the best athletes his age from around the world. We're proud of him and all the work he's put into earning this opportunity.
USA Gymnastics athletes pay their own way to Worlds. As a family, we've committed to getting him there, and the visas, flights and hotel are now booked and paid.
We're raising $10,000 to help cover the approximately $9,635 this trip costs.
Here's the breakdown:
- Team USA travel package, including flights to China, hotel, meals and insurance: $3,315
- Competition entry fee: $195
- Required Team USA apparel: $515
- Flights from Dallas to the team's San Francisco departure point: $1,045
- Flights to China: $1,515
- Hotel in Nanjing for 7 nights: $950
- Trip to Washington, D.C., in person to Chinese Embassy for China Visas : $1,500
- Local transportation and travel insurance in China: about $600
