For more than four years, LEO Michael Rhinewalt and his family have lived under the enormous weight of investigations, criminal charges, court appearances, and mounting legal expenses stemming from his service as a Mississippi Capitol Police officer.
After a September 2026 trial, the jury was unable to reach a verdict in his case. The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office subsequently announced that it would not seek to retry Michael on the manslaughter charge.
But Michael’s legal battle—and the financial toll that comes with it—is not over.
Michael continues to face significant legal expenses associated with the events of 2022 and all that followed. Defending yourself through years of litigation requires attorneys, investigators, experts, preparation, court costs, and countless hours away from the ability to simply work, provide for your family, and live a normal life.
