St. Joseph's is a tiny but beautiful church in downtown Las Vegas, in which Catholics can participate in the traditional Latin Mass, the historical and time-honored sacrament which the reforms of Vatican II in 1965 eliminated and replaced with a version of Mass called the Novus Ordo (the New Mass), along with many other sweeping reforms that effectively created a new religion and a new faith in which every sacrament, the process of ordination of clergy and even prayers and the traditional Catholic practices were profoundly altered.
This post-Vatican II church continued these alterations in the subsequent years, so that what is called the Catholic Church in the present day bears little resemblance to the Catholic Church begun by the apostles to Jesus Christ.
Despite this, and also in spite of the increasing hostility of the Vatican toward the traditional Latin Mass and the few Churches that have refused to replace it, St. Joseph's has kept to the traditions and ceremonies as practiced by Catholics for almost two thousand years before they were rewritten or scrapped entirely as a result of the devastating reforms put into effect during the 1960s.
Father Courtney Krier has been the lone pastor at St. Joseph's since the death of its founder years ago, and ministers to a small but devoted congregation which reveres the original Catholic faith and has preserved it for the benefit of all who wish to practice it. It survives on donations alone, because the Diocese of Las Vegas no longer sanctions the traditional practices and has cut St. Joseph's from its official list of Catholic churches, an irony in light of the fact that St. Joseph's has preserved the authentic Catholic faith while the Diocese and the Vatican hierarchy continue to erode it.
In addition to serving as a repository of the true Church, the only one in Las Vegas and for many miles surrounding it, St. Joseph's ministers to indigent persons in downtown Las Vegas and has begun renovations which are yet to be completed, but which will expand the space to provide needed additional services and allow the Church to repair, restore and expand the existing structure which it has needed for some time. Work is ongoing, but about $100,000 more is needed for completion.
Therefore this appeal is being made on behalf of this wonderful little church, to Catholics and all good people in Las Vegas and elsewhere, to help Father Krier and staff finish the ongoing project by way of contribution in whatever amount you are able to give. Parishioners have contributed and continue to do so, but in that we are not a large parish by any means, and receive no assistance or even at this point any recognition from the official Church, we are shouldering this cost by ourselves through the generosity of our congregation and the charity of strangers.
We believe it is vital that the authentic Catholic faith, as practiced from the first century until the year 1965, be preserved so that it may still be offered to the faithful as our Lord intended and His apostles began so very long ago. It withstood centuries of persecution, the deaths of its clergy and the many changes throughout the world in that time, only to fall victim to the spirit of ecumenism and a vision of modernity which, as time has shown, has caused countless Catholics to fall away from the faith, in such numbers that the closure of individual churches and parishes has continued til the present day, there being less and less people who attend them in their new, "updated" form, which is so profoundly altered from the original that a person attending Church for the first time in many years will likely not be sure he is actually attending a Catholic Mass.
The official Catholic Church, which is essentially a counterfeit, has set aside the dogma of two thousand years and now embraces what was formerly profane, incorporating LGBTQ ideology into the Mass and displaying its "Pride Flag" within the church itself in some parishes. This is sacrilege, and it is but one example of the apostasy that was foretold by the vision of Fatima. Our Lady, by way of three Secrets told to the blessed children who first saw her there, warned of the fatal consequences of apostasy within the Church, which would originate at the very top of the hierarchy. In recent years we have seen and heard ample evidence of the reality of this apostasy, including the declarations of Popes that all religions are a path to Christ, that all men are the Sons of God, and that the practice of abortion, acceptance of LGBTQ behavior and other practices forbidden by God should be accepted and even celebrated rather than rejected as sin which threaten the soul. As the Church continues to stand for less and less and its blasphemy and apostasy only increase, St. Joseph's is all the more important as the embodiment of the true Church, which has been evicted from the Vatican, its practitioners turned away at the door when they arrived there on a recent pilgrimage. The Adversary has replaced it, and is less and less tolerant of the existence of even the few remnants of the authentic Church which still exist, St. Joseph's being a prime example.
Please help Father Courtney Krier and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, on Ninth Street in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, to remain a fixture in the community, one needed more than ever in these turbulent times. We thank you for whatever you can contribute, and may God bless you for your kindness and support of the most beautiful Church in Las Vegas, even if not the biggest or grandest. Thank You.
