Ever since I can remember, I have been drawn to missions.
I grew up in a Christian family and my parents had a lot of devoted christian friends. One of these friends later grew into my friend as well: he was, and still is, a missionary and a prophet. I remember when I was around 4 years old, he was building a school in India and he was going around my country fundraising. He came to our house just to see my parents, but he ended up staying for a while sharing stories, and I felt such a deep sorrow for the kids he was telling us about. They had no food, no clothes, no sense of hygiene and cleanliness- they drank and bathed in the water of a river that the country threw their dead people in. It struck me so hard, I obsessively took showers, brushed my teeth and washed my face daily for months after.
Later on, when I was turning 11 I was being a generic preteen and was mad at my parents that I couldn’t celebrate my birthday, because it fell on a Sunday and we “had to” be at church (I hadn’t truly met Christ yet, so it warns important to me, personally, yet). He was at our service to give feedback on his missions amongst the tribes in the Indian Ocean and I remember, he was telling us how poor he lived among them, and yet, as he was leaving, he took all the money in his wallet and gave them to me. He said no more than “The Lord will show you what to do with them”, but I had no idea what that meant. So I kept the money and a few months later I funded my first missions trip with them.
My family, our pastors and a few other people went to the Rhodope mountains in my country that are notorious for being very extremist islamic. I didn’t fully understand what my contribution was, but I knew something was changing in me. My eyes and heart were opened and the world seemed brighter - now that I had started to comprehend how dark the world for these people is, I knew I had struck gold being born in the family and region that I had.
Ever since then I have gone back regularly to that village. There is currently a missions centre, a missionary couple that oversees it and one glorious fruit from our 20 years of labour. A local woman there was saved last year and she has turned into one of the greatest prayer warriors I have ever had the chance to encounter. I aspire to pray like her.
So now that the Lord has provided the chance to bring Christ to a few more of the highly islamic countries of the world, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity! I am set to go to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia at the beginning of next month (October 6-18) and then go to Central Asia at the end of the month (October 26-November 10). In all of the places I will go to, less then 2% of the population knows Christ!
If you have a burden on your heart for the islamic people of the world, I would love to connect with you. If you are not able to sow financially, please consider praying for me and my team, we will greatly need it!
We need funds, protection, immense favor before the Lord and the authorities and open doors for conversations and sharing the Gospel. I thank you and the Lord for providing me with the chance to share this with you and I hope to see the fruits of this!
