In Loving Memory of Misty D. Smith

On October 14, 2026, at 6:12 PM, our beloved friend, sister, and warrior, Misty D. Smith, passed away due to complications following surgery.

It is difficult to put into words the impact Misty had on the lives of so many people. To know her was to know someone who loved deeply, fought courageously, and never gave up no matter what challenges stood in front of her and was always praying for everyone.

Misty was not just my best friend. She was my sister in Christ, my recovery sister, and one of the greatest blessings God ever placed in my life.

I met Misty when I was only two months clean from addiction. At a time when I was still trying to find my footing in recovery, she welcomed me with love, understanding, and encouragement. What began as a friendship quickly became a sisterhood that carried us through some of life's most difficult and beautiful moments. She gave me the strength to tell my story, recover out loud, so that just maybe someone will hear it, like I heard hers, and it change their life.

Misty had achieved five years of sobriety from alcoholism. She worked hard every day for her recovery and never stopped fighting for the life she had rebuilt. Her testimony was one of perseverance, faith, and hope. She understood struggle, heartbreak, and loss, but she refused to let those things define her.

Misty wasn't defined by her struggles but by her victory over them. For five years, she lived in sobriety and used her experience to encourage others battling addiction. She showed us what God's grace and redemption look like in action. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we celebrate the legacy of faith, recovery, and hope she leaves behind.

For me personally, Misty was a lifeline. When I felt weak, she helped me find strength. When I felt discouraged, she reminded me to keep going. When I drifted away from my faith, she was the one who lovingly encouraged me to return to church and rededicate my life to Christ. Her faith wasn't something she just talked about. It was something she lived every day.

There were countless times she pointed me back to God when I needed it most. Her words, prayers, and friendship helped shape the woman I am today. I know I am not the only person whose life was changed because of Misty's influence.

Those who knew Misty know that she had a servant's heart. She cheered for others when they succeeded, stood beside them when they struggled, and never hesitated to offer encouragement, prayer, or support. She genuinely cared about people and wanted everyone around her to know that recovery and redemption were possible.

One of Misty's greatest accomplishments was rebuilding her relationship with her daughter, Leslie. Anyone who knew them could see how proud Leslie was of the woman her mother had become. Through recovery, faith, and determination, Misty transformed her life and became a living example of strength and redemption. Leslie watched her mother fight for sobriety, overcome obstacles, and grow into the person God created her to be. Their relationship reflected the healing that recovery can bring, and that transformation was something Misty cherished deeply. She was proud of the life she had rebuilt, but perhaps nothing meant more to her than knowing her daughter could be proud of her too.

Misty's journey showed that no matter where life begins, it is never too late for God to write a new chapter. The love, respect, and bond she shared with Leslie were beautiful reminders of the healing power of grace, forgiveness, and perseverance. That legacy will continue to live on in those who loved her most.

Today, we are asking for help to cover cremation expenses, memorial costs, and other final arrangements so that her loved ones can focus on honoring her life and grieving this unexpected loss. Every donation, regardless of the amount, will make a difference and will be greatly appreciated.

If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you please share this fundraiser and keep Misty's family, friends, and recovery community in your prayers.

Misty's life mattered. Her story mattered. Her recovery mattered. Her faith mattered. The lives she touched will forever be better because she was here.

Thank you for helping us honor and celebrate the incredible life of Misty D. Smith.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."

Matthew 25:23
