In Loving Memory of My Dad ❤️
Hi, my name is Tristia Woodford. I’m 25 years old, originally from Bakersfield, California, but I now live in Indiana. I’m reaching out to ask for help during one of the hardest times my family has ever faced.
My dad, Eric berger, was born on March 19, 1974, and sadly passed away after years of struggling with addiction and serious health problems. His life wasn’t always easy, and he battled addiction for many years, but that never changed the person he was at heart. Beneath everything he went through, he was truly a good man who cared deeply about the people around him. He would do anything he could to make sure his friends and family were safe, cared for, and okay.
My dad and I had a complicated journey. We went 11 years without knowing where he was or why he was gone. When we finally found each other and met for the first time, we were both filled with so much excitement and emotion. For him, finding out he had a daughter brought a happiness that I will never forget.
Then, when my little sister, Cali Ann, was born, I saw another side of my dad. He became softer, sweeter, and so full of love. Watching him love his little girl is something I will always carry with me.
Unfortunately, my dad faced some very serious health issues while trying to overcome the years of substance use that had taken a toll on his body. His health continued to decline, and we spent days fighting alongside him in the hospital while he was in a coma. We hoped and prayed that he would pull through. He was eventually placed on permanent dialysis, but despite everything, his body had been through too much.
Sadly, my dad passed away and was finally set free from the pain and suffering he had endured for so many years. 💔
Right now, I’m trying to make my way back home to California to help lay my dad to rest and to be there for my stepmom and my little sister as we grieve this heartbreaking loss. Unfortunately, finances are extremely tight, and making the trip home while also helping with funeral and burial expenses is more than I can manage on my own.
I’m asking for help so that we can give my dad the proper burial he deserves. I want my little sister, his grandchildren, and our family to have a place where we can visit him, remember him, and feel close to him.
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean more to us than I could ever put into words. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser would still help our family tremendously.
Thank you for taking the time to read my dad’s story, for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers, and for helping us bring him home and lay him to rest. ❤️
Rest peacefully, Dad. You were loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten. 🕊️❤️
