For over 30 years, our church has partnered with Pastor Leroy Gordon and Christian Fellowship Church in Catadupa, Jamaica. It has been quite some time since we’ve been able to return to Jamaica and serve alongside Pastor Leroy in person, and I’m excited to share that the opportunity is finally here!
Last year, Jamaica was devastated by a Category 5 hurricane that caused extensive damage and left many communities facing significant needs. This summer, I’ll be traveling to Catadupa from July 19–27 with several of our high school students and a handful of church members to serve alongside Pastor Leroy and his team.
During our time there, we’ll be helping in a variety of ways, including hurricane cleanup, evangelism, community outreach, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and identifying and meeting the needs of local families. Our heart is to come alongside this community, share the love of Jesus, and be the hands and feet of Christ wherever we can.
As many of you know, I serve as the high school Youth Pastor at our church. I’m also a stay-at-home mom to three kids! While I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve on this mission trip, being away for nine days also means arranging childcare for my children. My husband has been such a loving and supportive partner in my ministry, and I want to be thoughtful in planning for my time away and making sure things run as smoothly as possible for our family.
I’m raising support to help cover the cost of the trip as well as childcare while I’m away. Any funds raised beyond what is needed for travel and childcare will go directly to Pastor Leroy’s church, Christian Fellowship Church, to help support the ongoing needs of their ministry and community.
