It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating loss of our sweet Jacob Smyers, who tragically passed away on October 25 at just 17 years old. Jacob was a son, grandson, nephew, and so much more to those who loved him. He was in his senior year of high school, with so many dreams, milestones, and memories still ahead of him. Our family is struggling to find the words to express the pain of losing someone so young and so deeply loved. Our hearts are shattered, and we are still trying to understand how this could have happened.
As Jacob's father, Colton Smyers, his stepmother, Kelse Smyers, and his mother, Heather Stephen, try to come to terms with this unimaginable loss, they are also facing the unexpected financial burden of funeral expenses.
We are asking for help from our family, friends, and community to ease some of that burden and allow them to focus on what matters most right now — grieving, being together, and honoring Jacob's life.
Jacob leaves behind a family who loves him dearly, including his father Colton, stepmother Kelse, mother Heather, aunt Caitlyn Smyers, and grandparents Olivia and Jack Bently, Greg and Jennifer Smyers and Gina and Richard Bothwell.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go toward helping Jacob's family cover funeral expenses and other unexpected costs that come with such a heartbreaking loss. Our hope is to ease some of the financial burden so his parents can focus on grieving, supporting one another, and honoring Jacob's life.
