I am starting this fundraiser for a dear friend (Michelle Mounts) who has faced incredibly difficult and overwhelming times in her life.
She is a devoted single mother who works full-time while raising her beautiful daughter, who is autistic and has special needs. She works hard every day to provide a safe, loving home for her daughter, manage their household, and make ends meet. Like so many hardworking families, she lives paycheck to paycheck, doing everything she can to give her child the best life possible.
Recently, her husband asked that she and her daughter move out of the marital home. Her daughter had been hospitalized for a very long time and once she had recovered, he decided that it would be a good time to ask them to move out. Unfortunately, this unexpected situation has put her in a very vulnerable position.
While her focus should be on her daughter's health and recovery (she was recently hospitalized again), she is now facing the frightening possibility of losing her job, the health insurance they depend on, and potentially the home they live in.
She is not someone who easily asks for help. She is the kind of mother who will do whatever it takes for her daughter, no matter how difficult things become. But sometimes even the strongest people need someone to stand beside them.
I am asking for help because I want to take some of that weight off her shoulders. Donations will help with essential living expenses, rent, utilities, groceries, and other needs while she navigates this difficult period and focuses on her daughter's health.
No mother should have to choose between being at her sick child's bedside and worrying about whether she will still have a job, insurance, or a roof over their heads.
