Vanimo Papua New Guinea Twin Charity House Charity Project

 In response to the charism given to the Institute of the Incarnate Word, and with the approval of the Catholic Church and the generous support of the Bishop of the Diocese of Vanimo, Most Rev. Francis Mel, the IVE missionaries in Vanimo, together with the SSVM Sisters (Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará) and our lay collaborators, have begun a new apostolate of care for those most in need.

This mission is focused on those who are often forgotten or rejected by society — men, women and children living with profound disabilities, those suffering from serious or terminal illness, and those who have no one to care for them.

Conscious of the words of Our Lord:

“Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”

We understand that love of God must be lived through concrete love for our brothers and sisters. As Christ himself teaches, “Whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you belong to Christ, will surely not lose his reward.”

As we enter the holy season of Lent in 2026, we entrust this work to God’s grace and providence and humbly thank all our benefactors who are supporting this apostolate. Through your prayers, generosity and solidarity, the most vulnerable are receiving care, dignity and hope.

"Currently, the Charity House is caring for two children with cerebral palsy, who are under the loving care of dedicated volunteers.

1) Trisa Silas was born at Vanimo General Hospital on September 03, 2007. She is currently residing in the Charity House because her babv sitter is the main volunteer of the house, which allows her to receive continuous and attentive care. Her parents regularly visit her and remain present in her life,

Trisa was severely affected by a strong malaria infection during her early childhood. As a result

of complications from this illness, she eventually developed her present medical condition.

2) Ferdinen Aikei

Ferdinen Aikei was born in Amanab Village, Vanimo, on August 28, 2011. He was born with

cerebral palsy. Due to the challenges and difficulties his parents face in providing the specialized

care required for his condition, he was entrusted to the Charity House for proper support and

assistance. His parents frequently visit him and continue to show their love and care for him.

The Don Orione Little Charity House remains committed to its mission of charity, mercy, and

Christian love, serving the most vulnerable members of our community in the spirit of the Gospel."

This fundraiser is being organized by me, Ivan Brbot, from Sydney, Australia. Due to banking, logistical, and technical limitations in Papua New Guinea, the mission in Vanimo often experiences some difficulty in promptly receiving international donations directly. I am collecting the funds on their behalf, and once donations are received into my account, I will personally transfer 100% of the proceeds to the Institute of the Incarnate Word (Vanimo) to support their charity work and the care of the individuals in the Don Orione Little Charity House

My relationship with this mission started with my fondness of the country of Argentina and Chile when I rode a bicycle through both countries over 37 years ago, eventually culminating with the meeting and marrying of my Argentine wife with whom I now have 3 sons. This mission is staffed and run by Catholic Argentine Missionaries and following a chance encounter with one of their nuns in Brisbane Airport 2024, my support of the mission with material and financial support began.
