A Moment Of Your Time
How many seniors sit alone with a lifetime of stories and no one there to hear them?
That question has stayed with me, and recently it became a song I called A Moment Of Your Time.
It also brought me back to another song and project close to my heart: Touching Hearts, Opening Doors.
Together, those ideas have grown into something I would now like to put into action.
I want to visit seniors — in their own homes, retirement residences, nursing homes and other care settings — and simply spend time with them.
I want to sit down, perhaps over a cup of tea, and listen.
Maybe they want to tell me their whole life story.
Maybe it is one memory.
A childhood experience. A love story. A family story. A hardship they survived. A funny moment. Their work, their faith, their community, or someone they never want forgotten.
Whatever they choose to share, I want to take the time to listen, to understand, and to embrace their story.
Then I want to turn that story into a song created especially for them.
And give them their song at no cost to them.
Where Your Support Comes In
Perhaps you would love to spend more time visiting seniors yourself, but distance, work, family responsibilities, health, or simply the demands of everyday life make that difficult.
You can still help give someone A Moment Of Your Time.
Contributions to this campaign will help make it possible for me to travel to seniors, spend meaningful time with them without rushing, create their songs, and continue reaching others.
Support may help with travel and fuel, music creation and production, equipment, digital storage, communications, website expenses, and the time required to listen carefully and create each individual song.
This is not about charging seniors for their stories.
The song is the gift.
Preserving Their Stories
Every song will first belong to the senior whose story inspired it.
With their permission — and where appropriate, with the involvement of their family — some songs and perhaps eventually videos may also be shared through CountryAirRadio.com and related platforms.
This can give these memories a place not only to be heard today, but to be preserved for tomorrow.
Some stories may tell us about communities that have changed, farms and businesses that disappeared, family traditions, old ways of life, first loves, marriages, losses, laughter and experiences that may otherwise be gone when the people who remember them are gone.
But the most important thing is not the song, the website or even the history.
It is the person sitting in front of me.
Someone came.
Someone sat down.
Someone listened.
Someone cared.
Touching Hearts, Opening Doors
A contribution to this campaign helps give me the opportunity to open that door, sit for more than a moment, and listen.
Your support gives me the time.
The time opens the door.
The story touches the heart.
And the song preserves the moment.
If this project speaks to you, I invite you to support it, share it, pray for the seniors I will meet, or simply give a senior in your own life a little more of your time.
Because every life has a story.
Sometimes someone simply needs to be there to hear it.
