šŸ’™ Rally for Timothy: Mayo Clinic Surgery & Travel Fund

At just 13 years old, Timothy should be worrying about school, friends, and the sports he loves, not whether he can make it up a flight of stairs without becoming completely winded.

Timothy has pectus excavatum, a condition where the chest wall grows inward. His Haller Index is 3.7, which is significant, and his imaging showed that his chest wall is actually displacing his heart.

This condition has had a major impact on Timothy’s everyday life. He used to be active and loved playing sports like baseball and football. Now, he gets so short of breath and winded that even climbing the stairs can be difficult. He is also in pain frequently and deals with back pain.

Timothy will be traveling to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he will undergo the Nuss procedure to correct his pectus excavatum.

One of our biggest concerns was whether insurance would approve the surgery. Thankfully, it was approved without any issues, which was such a huge relief. šŸ’™ Now the next hurdle is getting Timothy and his family to Rochester and helping with all of the expenses that come along with being away from home for his surgery and recovery.

Mayo Clinic is about an 8 hour drive from home each way, meaning they will have more than 16 hours of driving round trip. His surgeon has also told the family that they will need to remain in Rochester for several additional days following surgery so Timothy can stay close to Mayo in case any complications arise.

We are raising money to help cover gas for the trip there and back, lodging while they are in Rochester, meals, local transportation, and anything Timothy may need to help keep him comfortable during his recovery.

Our hope is to take as much of the financial stress off Timothy’s family as possible so that when the time comes, their only concern can be getting Timothy through surgery, helping him heal, and being there for him during his recovery.

Any donation, big or small, will help them get one step closer. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Timothy’s fundraiser is just as appreciated. Every share helps his story reach more people. šŸ’™

We are incredibly grateful that Timothy is able to receive the surgery he needs, and we’re hopeful this will help him get back to being the active kid he was before his symptoms became so severe. We want to see him breathe easier, hurt less, climb the stairs without becoming completely winded, and hopefully get back to doing the things he loves.

Thank you so much for supporting Timothy and his family during this journey. Every donation, share, prayer, and kind word means more than we can say. šŸ™šŸ’™
