Our daughter Maddie has often stated she feels invisible to society. As she navigates adulthood with autism and complex health issues, we’ve seen how difficult it can be to find the support she needs to build a fulfilling life.
Although her strengths are unseen by most, Maddie is a talented individual who enjoys photography, art, Japanese culture and language, and Iaido. However, her health issues require her to have assistance in navigating everyday life.
Her needs have required many doctor visits, paperwork, phone calls, and visits to state agencies looking for help. Despite our best attempts, it seems she is unnoticed once again as her personal challenges cannot be neatly defined by traditional social welfare programs. Our family is now in a position of needing more income, but working more takes away the assistance Maddie needs to navigate life and get appropriate healthcare.
We ask for your support to help pay for medical bills not covered by insurance and hire a private companion worker to ensure Maddie can live life to her fullest potential. A companion worker would assist in taking Maddie to appointments and outings in the community so that she can pursue her passions and be invisible no more.
Thank you for your consideration.
