TEAM KEVIN: Now It's Our Turn

Kevin Eldridge has spent much of his life showing up for other people. Now, at 62, he is facing metastatic kidney cancer—and we are asking our family, friends, church community, and anyone touched by his story to help us show up for him.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help with medical bills, specialized testing, expert consultations, additional lab work, integrative and functional medicine support, and the many out-of-pocket expenses involved in searching for the best path forward.

Most of all, we're asking you to pray, share Kevin's story, and help us keep searching.

If you know Kevin, there's a good chance he's checked on you.

Not because he needed something.

Because you were going through something.

That's Kevin.

He stays in touch with people. He encourages them. He welcomes them into our home. He has served men through church recovery programs as well as prison ministry.

He's quick-witted, loves to laugh, enjoys cooking, loves history.

And he loves people.

Kevin has spent his career helping people navigate Medicare and health insurance. He genuinely loves his work because he gets to help people solve problems during an important season of their lives.

He's also a man of deep Christian faith.

His faith, his family and his desire to serve others are at the center of who he is.

And now Kevin needs some help himself.

Our lives changed in October 2025.

Kevin had been becoming increasingly tired.

Then a CT scan showed an 11.5 × 11 cm mass on his left kidney.

Kidney cancer.

We did what his doctors recommended.

In November 2025, Kevin underwent a left nephrectomy—the surgical removal of his kidney.

Kevin recovered remarkably well. By Christmas, we were able to travel to Las Vegas to see our sons, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

After everything we'd been through, being together as a family felt especially precious.

We began looking forward again.

Then came the news we desperately didn't want.

Cancer had spread beyond Kevin's kidney.

Cancer was identified in his liver and lung. A liver biopsy confirmed metastatic clear-cell renal cell carcinoma.

Suddenly, we were facing a very different disease.

So we started searching.

Metastatic kidney cancer can be incredibly difficult to treat.

Kevin's doctors have been evaluating treatment possibilities, including newer immunotherapy combinations and clinical-trial options. So far, we haven't found the right fit for Kevin's particular situation.

That doesn't mean we've stopped looking.

Quite the opposite.

We want to pursue every reasonable opportunity available to Kevin.

That means continuing to work with conventional medicine while also investigating specialized testing, additional expert opinions, emerging approaches, and evidence-informed integrative and functional strategies that may help us better understand Kevin's cancer, support his body, maintain his quality of life and potentially identify opportunities we haven't found yet.

Many of those things aren't covered by insurance.

And the expenses are becoming significant.

Why we're raising $50,000

We aren't raising money because someone has promised us a miracle treatment.

No one has.

We're raising money because searching thoroughly costs money.

Our $50,000 goal will help us pay for things such as:

Medical bills and testing

We already have expenses from Moffitt Cancer Center, Labcorp, Quest and other medical services, with additional testing ahead.

Specialized laboratory work

Some of the testing we're exploring isn't routinely covered by insurance but may provide additional information about Kevin's health and disease.

Expert consultations and second opinions

We want the freedom to put Kevin's case in front of physicians and specialists who may see something others haven't.

Integrative and functional medicine support

We are exploring evidence-informed ways to support Kevin's nutrition, metabolism, strength, immune function, sleep, quality of life and overall health alongside his oncology care.

Travel and related expenses

If the right specialist, clinical trial or opportunity requires travel, we want to be able to pursue it.

Supplements and supportive care

Many supportive interventions are paid entirely out of pocket.

Lost income

Cancer doesn't stop the mortgage, groceries or everyday bills.

And remarkably, Kevin is still working.

At the same time he is dealing with metastatic cancer, changes involving a major insurance provider have forced him to transition roughly 80% of his Medicare clients to new coverage.

He's doing his best to work every day.

Most days, he still feels pretty good.

But lately, we can see his energy beginning to fade.

And that makes this search feel increasingly urgent.

What is Kevin fighting for?

I asked him.

His answer had nothing to do with cancer.

He said:

"I'm fighting to live to see all my grandchildren become adults."

He wants more time with his family.

He wants more time with his son.

After seven years of estrangement, Kevin and his son, Lance, recently found their way back to each other.

That reconciliation has been an extraordinary gift.

There are conversations still to have.

Things a father still wants to teach his son about life.

And years they would both like to get back.

Kevin wants to see his grandchildren grow up.

He wants to serve again.

He wants to give back to the programs and people who have helped us.

He says he still has "so much more to do for Jesus."

And then he said something that stopped me:

"I long to be sitting next to you and just grow older and be surrounded by our family."

The remarkable thing is...

I'd already said almost exactly the same thing.

I REALLY, REALLY want to grow old with this man.

Kevin and I have been married for 20 years.

Our anniversary is June 17, 2006.

And our marriage story isn't the typical one.

We didn't start out with the perfect marriage and slowly watch the spark fade.

Honestly?

Ours started out pretty awful.

And then something beautiful happened.

It kept getting better.

Year after year.

Through faith.

Forgiveness.

Growth.

Family.

Laughter.

Hard conversations.

Lots of grace.

Our marriage today is almost unrecognizable from the marriage we started with.

And somehow, after 20 years...

it still gets better every single year.

I see Kevin's love for me 24/7.

As his energy has declined, I've even asked him:

"Are you just hanging on for me?"

Because as much as I love him, I don't want that to be the only reason he keeps going.

He told me no.

There is still too much he wants to do.

Too many people he loves.

Too many grandchildren he wants to watch grow.

Too much he wants to teach his son.

Too many ways he wants to serve.

And yes...

He wants to grow old with me too.

I'm a nurse. I know this is serious.

People have asked me what scares me.

My greatest fear isn't simply hearing the word cancer.

It's watching Kevin become increasingly tired and wondering whether there will come a day when he's simply too tired to keep pushing forward.

There are moments when that scares me tremendously.

But I also have hope.

A lot of it.

My Christian faith is not something I reserve for the easy days.

It is carrying me through these days.

I continue to receive reminders through my faith that Kevin is being healed—even during the moments when what I see in front of me makes that difficult to understand.

I don't know exactly what God's plan looks like.

I don't know where the next answer will come from.

But I believe we're supposed to keep going.

So that's what we're doing.

Maybe you can help us find the next opportunity.

There is another reason we're sharing Kevin's story publicly.

Someone reading this may know someone.

A renal-cell cancer specialist.

A researcher.

An oncologist.

A clinical trial.

A cancer center.

An emerging treatment.

Or simply someone who has walked this road before us.

Sometimes the most important gift isn't money.

Sometimes it's a connection.

So if Kevin's story reaches someone who knows something we should investigate, please reach out.

We want to hear from you.

There are three ways you can help us:

PRAY

Please pray for Kevin.

Pray for healing.

Pray for strength.

Pray for wisdom.

Pray for the physicians and researchers working on kidney cancer.

And pray that the right people and opportunities cross our path at exactly the right time.

SHARE

Please share this campaign.

Even if you can't contribute financially, sharing Kevin's story may put it in front of someone who can help.

One share can travel much farther than we could ever reach ourselves.

GIVE

If you're able, please consider contributing toward our $50,000 goal.

$25 helps.

$50 helps.

$100 helps.

$500 helps.

$1,000 helps.

There is no gift too small for us to appreciate.

Every contribution gives us a little more freedom to keep searching.

What your gift really gives us is opportunity.

Opportunity to run another test.

Opportunity to talk to another expert.

Opportunity to investigate another treatment.

Opportunity to travel if necessary.

Opportunity to support Kevin while we search.

Opportunity to keep asking questions.

Opportunity to keep moving forward.

And perhaps...

opportunity for more time.

More birthdays.

More Christmases.

More conversations between a father and his son.

More time serving others.

More memories with grandchildren.

More ordinary evenings watching television.

More family dinners.

More sitting next to each other.

More life.

And maybe—God willing—the opportunity for Kevin and me to do the incredibly ordinary thing that suddenly feels like the greatest gift imaginable:

Grow old together.

Thank you for loving Kevin.

Thank you for praying for us.

Thank you for sharing our story.

And thank you for becoming part of Team Kevin.

With love and gratitude,

Dana
