My name is Joy Arceneaux and I am a special education teacher in Sinton ISD in Texas. My husband Kenny and I have two daughters who have level 3 Autism and currently attend high school.
My husband was recently diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, and we've decided to pursue treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. This journey has brought unexpected costs we weren't prepared for.
Our first round of travel alone cost $1000. Both of us work full time, but our daughters' Autism limits our ability to travel freely. As a teacher, I have a limited number of days off during the school year, once those are used up, my pay gets docked for each day away.
While my husband has good insurance, our medical bills are already at $2000 and continuing to grow. Between travel expenses, time away from work, and mounting medical costs, we're facing a significant financial strain as we focus on his treatment and recovery.
Thank you for standing with us.
