The Marine Biology Trip has been known to change lives...But we need your help.
As we are preparing for the 2027 Marine Biology Trip, we have seen an increase in expenses. Our goal has always been to keep this trip as affordable as possible to ensure that everyone who is interested is able to attend. And though we have seen this increase in expenses, we have chosen to not raise the registration costs of the students and, instead, we are putting our trust in God that He will provide what we need.
This year, our additional expenses include:
- Boat repairs - The boat is a critical part of the trip - you can't thoroughly explore the ocean without one! And it has always been a highlight for students to ride on the open seas on the boat. But last year, the motor blew up and we needed to replace it. And if you know anything about boat motors, they are not cheap. This was a very unexpected expense for us. But we must have a boat!
- A New Nano Cube - On our excursions, we carefully collect specimens we find and bring them back with us to temporarily keep in tanks while we study them. One of our Nano Cube tanks needs to be replaced this year.
- Lab and Learning Equipment - We would love to purchase more microscopes for the students to be able to use to have a more hands-on experience as we conduct several labs in the Keys. We also want to upgrade to a larger marker board for improved learning during our daily lectures.
- Scholarships - We are always seeking contributions to our scholarship funds so we can ensure that finances are not a barrier for anyone wanting to participate in this once in a lifetime experience.
The Marine Biology Trip has been in operation for nearly 40 years and over that time we have been able to witness to hundreds of students. Many have come to a saving knowledge of Christ on this trip, and every year the youth rave about growing in their faith and expressing how much they learned about God's creation. Some have even gone on to have careers in marine biology.
Consider being a part of this trip by making a financial contribution. Our goal is $20,000. It may seem like a lot but if just 20 people donate $1,000, we will have reached our goal! But any contribution is appreciated and will be used by God; whether it is $5, $50, or $5,000.
All funds raised will be poured directly into this trip. Our staff are volunteers and most of them take time off of work and time away from their families to be able to serve the Lord on this trip.
