Our beloved Sister Rasheeda Bakr, a longstanding member and longtime supporter of Quba Institute, is battling cancer. We turn to Allah with hope for her complete healing, and we call upon our community to surround her with generosity, compassion, and prayer.
For years, Sister Rashidah has been part of Quba's fabric. Her enduring support connects her to the worship, learning, and service that bring our community together. Today, we have an opportunity to return that care—to remind her that she is cherished and that she does not walk this difficult road alone.
Our faith teaches us to respond to another person’s hardship with open hearts and helping hands. Through this fundraiser, we invite you to help ease the burdens that accompany her illness, allowing her greater peace of mind as she focuses on treatment and recovery. Every contribution, no matter the size, is a meaningful expression of love and solidarity.
Give with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure and bringing comfort to our sister. Alongside your donation, please keep Rashidah in your duʿa’. Remember her after your prayers, in the quiet hours of the night, and in those moments when your heart turns most earnestly toward Allah.
Lord, knower of the unknown future, we thank you for Your compassion and love that is with us in all circumstances and never lets us go. We ask that the remembrance of Your presence comforts Rashidah Bakr as she begins her journey through understanding and coping with this illness. May all she does, and all the medical, nursing, and faith communities around her do, support wholeness and fullness of life. We pray that you would bring clarity of understanding to all who are treating Rashidah for this illness and that You would bring her comfort, peace and hope. We pray that she would be spared all undue suffering, and that her friends, family, and community would rally around her to provide comfort and support. We pray that You would encourage and strengthen Rashidah and her family so that no stone is left unturned in the search for a way through this illness with dignity and compassion. Lord, You are the Healer (Shaafi), the Repairer (al-Muaafi); heal and repair here, leaving no trace of harm. Where there is fear, bring comfort; where there is pain, bring relief; where there is sadness, bring solace. Lord, You are the constant companion; where there is loneliness, bring the fellowship of family, friends, and communal love. How fragile are our bodies, O God! Yet how strong are our spirits! You know and love us and will not let us go, and your strength and courage are eternal. We thank You for Your presence with Rashidah and with us all. Ameen
