Updates (written by Priscilla 10/7):
First, we want to say thank you so much for all of the prayers, texts, calls and support you all have shown the families over the last 15 days. We feel the love of God pouring through you. Thank you to all of the friends and family that came to celebrate Gil’s beautiful, vibrant life with us. Every hug and story warmed our hearts and helps us as we grieve losing such a special man and daddy.
The three kids are each navigating finding a new way of life now. Their lives are forever changed and the void is so loud. We are all having ups and downs, but we know we are not alone and God is with us. Please continue to pray for Egil, Penny and Bear. Please also pray for Angie (Gil’s mom) and Jason (Gil’s brother). They have been so strong for all of us. Praying for peace and comfort for them as they lost a son and brother. And lastly, please pray for us moms. It’s truly a heartbreaking experience to watch our children grieve and we walk this out with them. I pray the Lord gives us wisdom in how to support each child in the unique way that they need.
We want to especially ask for continued prayers for Keith as he battles in his journey in the hospital in Houston. Keith has undergone numerous surgeries and has 5+ more surgeries to go. He is currently fighting an infection so we want to ask all of you to join us in praying for his quick healing from that infection. We are praying for him and his family as their lives have also tremendously been impacted.

On September 21, 2026, Monday morning, Gil Urbano and Keith Hilton were in a tragic head-on collision near Navasota, Texas, on their way to work. Gil passed away at the scene. Keith was airlifted to a hospital for immediate surgery and has since been transferred to Hermann Hospital in Houston, where he has undergone multiple surgeries for a shattered pelvis, broken legs and wrists, spinal injuries, and various internal injuries. He is scheduled for spine surgery and faces a long and difficult road to recovery. Keith is expected to be in the hospital for 8-12 weeks with extensive rehabilitation following.
Donations will help Keith with medical expenses and his needs during recovery, while providing financial support for Gil’s children and their families in the months ahead. We will share updates as we learn more about their needs.
Gil is survived by his three children: Egil (18), Penny (10), and Bear (2), and his mother, Angie Gibson and brother, Jason Gibson.
Egil had just graduated from high school this past spring. He had recently begun working alongside his father, Gil, and Keith on a nine-month plumbing project on a new veterinary lab in College Station. This was especially meaningful to Egil because Gil was his hero, and he was incredibly excited to have the opportunity to work with his dad for the first time and learn from him.
Penny is Gil’s twin, and their bond was something truly special. She loved him so deeply, and there was a beautiful connection between them that will always be a part of her. Penny loved to draw, just like her dad, and she loved listening to all of his songs and hearing him share the music he was so passionate about. In so many little ways, she carries pieces of Gil with her—the things they loved, the things they shared, and the memories they created together. Gil adored his girl, and Penny will always be his little twin, forever carrying his love with her.
Bear is only two years old, but she had already captured a very special place in her daddy’s heart. Gil loved watching her grow, hearing her laugh, and seeing the little person she was becoming. She brought out a part of him that was uniquely hers—a tender, playful father’s love that cannot be replaced. They loved to play basketball together, play, and dance, making memories that will forever be treasured. Bear will grow up knowing that her daddy loved her beyond words. She will always carry a part of her daddy with her—in her laughter, in her joy, and in the beautiful person she becomes.
The loss of Gil has left an unimaginable hole in the lives of his children and everyone who loved him. For Egil, this tragedy came at the very beginning of what was supposed to be an exciting new chapter—working alongside the father he looked up to so deeply. Penny and Bear are also facing life without their dad far too soon.
Keith is a truly kind-hearted soul who has never met a stranger. He has a way of making people feel welcomed, cared for, and valued, and he has always been someone who works hard and gives his best to everything he does.
Keith began plumbing at 18 years old, just like Egil. Keith is deeply passionate about his specialty, medical gas. From oxygen lines to the many other systems he works on, he takes enormous pride in knowing that the work he does plays a part in helping save countless lives. It has never been just a job to him. It is a trade he cares deeply about and a responsibility he takes seriously. Keith has so many dreams, goals, and hopes for the future ahead of him. He was especially inspired by Gil and his career in plumbing. Gil became not only a friend and mentor to Keith, but someone Keith deeply admired and looked up to in the trade. Over time, Keith also became a beloved friend to Gil’s family and an important part of their lives.
There is still so much unknown, and Keith will need support—not only financially, but emotionally and in so many areas of his daily life—as he begins the long road to recovery and adjusts to a future he never expected.
Your support will help with Keith's extensive medical expenses, as well as provide financial assistance to Gil's children as they adjust to life without their father.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser can also help us reach more people who may be able to support Keith and Gil's children during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for your prayers, kindness, generosity, and support for both families.
