My name is Al, and earlier this year my wife Terry was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is starting a treatment plan of about six months, followed by surgery. Her doctors are treating it with the goal of a full recovery, and we are holding on to that hope, and to the Lord, every step of the way.
Terry and I have been married for 40 years, and she is the love of my life. She retired last year after a career as a full-time teacher, and she still tutors part-time at her old school. Her real passion is gardening, which she now does part-time too. She's a degreed electrical engineer, a sixth-degree master in Taekwondo, and a devout Christian who knows her Bible forward and backward. Terry has always been the one caring for others. Now it's our turn to stand with her.
Alongside her chemotherapy, Terry is receiving supportive care to help her body stay strong through treatment. Much of that care isn't covered by insurance. Many of her treatments are an hour's drive away in Pinellas County, so travel and everyday costs add up along with the medical bills. So far we've paid about $20,000 out of pocket, and the hardest part of treatment is just beginning. Your gift will go directly toward her treatment, her supportive care, and the costs of getting her there.
We're also deeply encouraged by my sister-in-law, Susie Wieland, who had the same type of cancer and was miraculously healed. You can hear her story here: https://youtu.be/F6GasezZG70
We know not everyone is able to give, and that's okay. Your prayers mean just as much to us. Please pray for:
- Strength and peace for Terry through each treatment
- Wisdom for her doctors
- Complete healing, in God's timing
We are grateful beyond words for the friends, family and church family God has placed around us. Whatever He does through this, He gets the glory.
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me." – Psalm 28:7
With love and gratitude,
Al & Terry Johnson
