🦅 Rallying for Burt: Supporting His Family Through the Ultimate Fight
Burt is a true son of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Born and raised in the Electric City as one of 18 siblings, he learned early on the true meaning of family, loyalty, and community. Burt is a man of incredible, vibrant dimensions—he is just as comfortable sitting quietly in the woods on a crisp morning hunting, casting a fishing line into a local river, or passionately shouting "Fly, Eagles, Fly!" during a Sunday afternoon game as he is working with his hands.
Burt is known by everyone around him as an amazing painter and a remarkably hard worker. Today, he is fighting his toughest battle yet, and his massive, loving family is rallying around his bedside in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The Battle in the ICU
Eight days ago, Burt’s life took an unexpected turn. Following a severe medical crisis, he was admitted to the ICU and placed under a specialized cooling protocol to protect his brain. Since then, it has been a test of absolute endurance. Today marks Day 8, and Burt remains peacefully asleep as his body works tirelessly to heal and clear the heavy medical sedatives.
While the medical team monitors him around the clock and his family holds his hand—talking to him about the woods, sharing family stories, and playing Eagles games—the world outside the ICU walls keeps moving.
Shielding the Heart of the Family: Our $15,000 Goal
Burt’s wife has been by his side every single second, showing the kind of fierce devotion that Burt has always poured into his marriage and his family. But as the days in the hospital turn into weeks, the financial reality of lost income and travel costs is beginning to loom large.
