I never imagined I would be writing something like this to ask for Help
Asking for help is something that has been incredibly difficult for me. I’ve spent my life trying to take care of myself with help and guidance from GOD; with HIS help/guidance I was able to handle my responsibilities…I was blessed to be blessing to many others apart from my friends and family. I never imagined that I would one day have to ask strangers for help simply to get somewhere safe.
But here I am.
I need help getting to family, and specific medical specialties in NY.
**** There is a part of my story that is difficult for me to even put into words****
Over the years I have had more than my share of medical emergencies, I died a total of 4 times, the last, being just a couple years ago, and spent some time in ICU. Then the journey continued when I was released to home healthcare, physical therapist, painfull therapies, life threatening neurological, testing, multiple doctors and specialist visits etc.
By the grace and mercy of God, I can say that I am truly blessed to have been given yet ANOTHER chance at life.
I don’t take those “2nd chances” lightly, or for granted.
Whatever your beliefs may be, I think most of us can understand what it means to realize that life can change in an instant—and that being given another day is something incredibly merciful, and precious.
For me, I believe God keep sparing my life for a reason; that HE has a plan and purpose in all of this. Or HE probably just don’t want me to be a bad influence on the others in heaven 😂
I believe there is still more HE want to do in and through me as I yield myself to HIM…. more people to introduce to HIM….HIS never ending grace and mercy….more purpose left for me to fulfill for as long as I am blessed to be in this earth. I’m honored to be able to continue serving HIM, and I am fighting for every possible opportunity to keep doing it till my last, and final breath.
Unfortunately, my health has been teetering between concerning to life threatening over the past several months, and it seemed like every financial avenue that I had previously secured mysteriously was no longer available ti me.
I’ve been diagnosed with more than 45 medical conditions since 2008. Some, by the grace of GOD is no longer an issue….my “bundle of miracle healings”- and many testimonies.
Currently, I have ongoing issues with some other diagnosis, including serious heart, kidney, liver and pancreatic problems, chronic dehydration, mal-absorption, meningioma (left side of the brain), gastroparesis, motility complications, IBS, post-concussive syndrome, tachycardia, severe cervical and lumbar spine problems, nerve pain, torn ligaments from multiple falls, and recurrent seizures that affects/erases parts of my short term memory….BUT GOD!!! 😇
I have been warned that another seizure which is usually accompanied by dangerously elevated blood pressure could potentially result in a stroke, heart attack, or death. Well … at least I’m kind of getting use to the death part… had a few practice runs with that one … lol
I have experienced episodes where I could not stand or walk without assistance, severe vomiting, sepsis, numbness, swelling (including my head), frightening neurological symptoms, head to toe paralysis (couldn’t even open my eyes) endless emergency-room and urgent-care visits, and moments when I genuinely didn’t know what was happening to my body.
I can no longer safely live by myself. I receive support through Aging and Disability Services and palliative care, and my sister has become an essential part of helping me through these frightening episodes. I thank GOD every day for her! Talk about an example of John 15:13, which says,
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one another". She’s stopped her life to help care for mine, and I can no longer have her carry this alone with me….its just too much! …. that is why we need to get reliable transportation, and to get to New York as soon as possible.
This isn’t simply a move for me. It’s about getting somewhere I can be cared for (spiritually as well), and help her get the support of family and friends there as well.
My sister and I have been told that I may be able to receive better medical care and the support I desperately need there. Most importantly, I won’t have to face these medical emergencies alone, nor worry as much about her caring for me alone, but getting there has become an overwhelming struggle.
I have lived in my current home for 14 years. I am now behind on my rent and facing eviction.
My car is currently not running, making medical appointments, transportation, packing, and moving incredibly difficult. Housing arrangements I had made fell through. Financial assistance I had hoped to receive from nonprofit organizations is no longer available because their funding had been exhausted.
While all of this is happening, my health continues to make even the simplest things difficult.
My sister and I are trying to pack only what we absolutely need. We are selling, donating, giving away, and letting go of belongings accumulated over 14 years because we simply cannot take very much with us, especially since we will be staying with a relative.
There are days when I can barely do anything, including getting out of bed, and others when she has to help me do even the simplest of daily tasks like showering, getting dressed, or combing my hair.
There are moments when I am overwhelmed by the thought of everything happening at once, those are the times that I’m ecstatic that I was raised having a relationship with Christ. I know I could always run BOLDLY to HIM in prayer.
…but honestly, I’m scared even with that knowledge. I think more so for my sister and my two adult daughters if another serious medical complication occurs.
But I’m not giving up!!!
I don’t want to remain in this condition; I’m fighting, praying and now putting my “pride” on notice … It has to step down, and I have to humble myself and admit that need help. 🤔💭 talk about some tough lessons! 🤓
I don’t want luxury. I don’t want my life to be someone else’s responsibility…or burden.
I just want to get to my family in NY…to breathe (exhale), and continue my journey with CHRIST, get back my health and independence…for the both my sister and I…..somewhere that… if another frightening medical episode happens, I..nor my sister would be (humanly) alone.
I want to be able to wake up without immediately wondering whether I’m going to lose my health, my home, or both. Honestly, the only thing I worry most about is losing my close relationship with CHRIST… everything else takes the backseat.
I would love to be well again to do more for “The Kingdom” So today, with more humility than I can express, I’m asking for help…prayers, finances, health, love…and/or kind encouraging words of support.
Funds raised will help us address the immediate housing and rent crisis, transportation and moving expenses, essential living needs, medical and medication-related expenses, and the cost of safely relocating to New York. Even a small donation could make a meaningful difference.
And if you cannot donate, please share this fundraiser. Your “share” could put my story in front of someone who can help.
I don’t take a single dollar, prayer, kind word, or share for granted.
I have spent much of my life being the person who tries to handle things myself.
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but perhaps there is another lesson in having to finally admit that sometimes we need one another, and that “pride” in “doing it alone” is not always a good thing.
I survived many things I never thought I would survive. I believe God gave me another chance, and now I’m asking for a little help making the most of it with HIS guidance.
If you can help me get safely to my family, I will carry your kindness with me, and pray that your generosity will be returned to you tenfold.
Thank you for reading my story.
Thank you for caring about someone you may have never met, And thank you for helping me take one more step toward safety, family, healing, and hope 🙏
I’ve already been given another chance at life.
I’m just trying to do everything I can to honor this opportunity, and to live it GODLY, intentionally & purposefully. ❤️🩹
