Hello, everyone. My name is Leonard, and I'm reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for help during what has become the most difficult and frightening chapter of my life.
As someone who has spent most of his life working hard to support his family, asking for financial assistance is not something that comes easily to me. I've always believed that if I worked hard enough, sacrificed enough, and kept moving forward despite life's difficulties, I could eventually overcome whatever challenges came my way. Unfortunately, life has taken an unexpected turn, and I now find myself facing a situation I cannot overcome on my own.
About two weeks ago, I collapsed at work and was rushed to the hospital. At first, I thought it might have been caused by exhaustion. I had been working long hours, sleeping only a few hours each night, and pushing myself far beyond what my body could handle. I never imagined that something much more serious was happening inside me.
During my examination, the doctors detected an unusual sound in my heart called a heart murmur. They immediately recommended further tests, including an echocardiogram, to determine what was wrong. After undergoing the necessary examinations, I received devastating news. I was diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect, or VSD, which means there is a hole in the wall separating the lower chambers of my heart.
According to my doctor, my condition is serious and requires urgent open-heart surgery. Hearing those words was terrifying. Suddenly, the future I had been working so hard to build became uncertain, and I found myself facing a medical emergency that I was financially unprepared for.
The estimated cost of my operation is approximately $8,500 USD.
Unfortunately, I do not have the money needed to cover this expense. I have already used my savings to pay off debts accumulated during some of the most difficult years of my family's life. Now, I am struggling to find a way to afford the surgery my doctor says I urgently need.
To help you understand my situation, I want to share a little about my life and why I have worked so hard for so many years.
Outside of my YouTube channel, Grind Hard Squad, I worked as a quality control officer for a company that imports fruits from other countries. After finishing my regular job at around 5:30 PM, I would go home, eat dinner, and begin working on YouTube videos. I often stayed awake until three or four in the morning before waking up again at six to prepare for work.
I knew I was exhausting myself, but I kept going because I had
responsibilities I could not ignore. I wanted to earn enough money to help my father and give him a better life.
My father is now 64 years old, and I am his only child. Whenever my family faced difficulties, I felt responsible for finding a way to get us through them. I wanted to make sure my father could live more comfortably after everything our family had endured.
A few years ago, I lost my mother to cancer. Losing her was one of the most painful experiences of my life. Watching someone you love suffer from a terrible illness changes you in ways that are difficult to explain. Then, about a year later, my father contracted COVID-19, bringing another wave of fear, uncertainty, and financial hardship into our lives.
The expenses kept accumulating, and the debts became increasingly difficult to manage. Despite the grief and exhaustion, I returned to work because I needed to survive and continue supporting my father. I kept telling myself that things would eventually get better if I continued working hard enough.
That belief became the foundation of my life. I worked during the day and created content at night, hoping that every sacrifice would bring me closer to a more stable future for my family.
I never expected that I would eventually become the person who needed help.
After receiving my diagnosis, I had to make the difficult decision to resign from my job because my condition no longer allowed me to continue working as I had before. I am currently at home, trying to understand what has happened and figure out how I can receive the medical treatment I need.
The hardest part is knowing that I need urgent surgery but not knowing where the money will come from. I have already spent most of my savings paying off the debts left by the difficult circumstances my family has faced. I have no reliable income at the moment, and my medical expenses are adding another burden to an already difficult situation.
I'm frightened, and I honestly don't know what the future holds. I never imagined that I would find myself in a position where I would have to ask strangers, friends, and people who have watched my videos for help just to have a chance at receiving the treatment I need.
But I want to live.
I want the chance to recover from this condition. I want to spend more years with my father. I want to see him enjoy his life without constantly worrying about what might happen next. I want the opportunity to rebuild my life, return to the things I love, and continue creating content for the community that has become such a meaningful part of my journey.
That is why I am reaching out today.
I am hoping to raise approximately $8,500 USD to help cover the cost of my heart surgery. Depending on what the hospital confirms, additional support may also be needed for hospitalization, medications, follow-up care, and recovery. I will continue exploring available medical assistance programs and other sources of support to help cover these expenses.
I understand that $8,500 is a significant amount of money. I also understand that many people are struggling with their own financial responsibilities. Some of you are supporting your families, paying your bills, raising children, or working long hours just to make ends meet. I know how difficult it is to earn money because I have spent much of my life doing exactly that.
Please know that I am not asking anyone to sacrifice their own well-being or their family's needs for me. If you are unable to contribute financially, I completely understand.
But if you are in a position to help, any contribution, no matter how small, would mean more to me than I can express. Every donation could bring me one step closer to receiving the treatment I need. And if you cannot donate, sharing my story with others would also be an incredible help. You never know who might see it, share it, or know of a medical assistance program that could make a difference.
For those who know me through my YouTube channel, Grind Hard Squad, you know that I have always enjoyed playing games and sharing that passion with others. But the name of my channel has always meant something more to me. I believed in working hard, persevering through difficult challenges, and never giving up on the things that mattered.
I spent years living by that belief. Now, I am facing a challenge that I cannot overcome through hard work alone. This time, I need help from others.
As difficult as it is to admit, I cannot do this by myself.
I wish I could promise everyone that everything will work out. I wish I could tell you that I already have the money for my surgery and that I will soon return to my normal life. But that would not be the truth. Right now, I am doing my best to find a way forward, and I am holding on to the hope that I can receive the treatment my doctor has recommended.
I am asking for your help because I want the opportunity to continue living, to be there for my father, and to see what the future might still hold for me.
If you choose to support my fundraiser, please know that your kindness will never be taken for granted. You would be helping someone who has spent much of his life trying to take care of his family and who now desperately needs a chance to take care of himself.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you to everyone who has supported my channel, watched my videos, left kind comments, and been part of my journey. Your support has already brought happiness into my life, and I am deeply grateful for it.
I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I still hope that I can overcome this challenge and have the chance to live another chapter of my life.
If you can help me get closer to that chance, I would be forever grateful.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
With all my gratitude,
Leonard
