My brother was hospitalized in Poland for 101 days with a spine infection that has paralyzed him from the waist down. After two weeks at home, his condition worsened and he was readmitted to the hospital. We are trying to get him back to the United States for further medical treatment and to be near family in San Diego, where they live.
Because of his condition, he will need to fly with a medical attendant on a commercial airline. He is unable to sit for more than about two hours due to weakened spine and back muscles. We explored military aeromedical evacuation options through the Department of Defense and State Department, but he does not qualify. A Medical Air Ambulance is not affordable.
We are raising $50,000 to help cover the cost of his out-of-pocket medical expenses and to get my brother home where he can receive the care he needs and be surrounded by family.
