Hello, my name is Racquel. On September 26th, my family and I lost our home in a devastating house fire.
We didn’t just lose our house—we lost the home and the life we had only just begun building. At the end of July, we moved from Washington State to North Carolina for a fresh start. We had been patiently waiting over two months for our furniture and belongings to arrive, and it finally got here last week but just as we were finally starting to settle in and feel at home, the fire happened and took all those things we spent years accumulating.
To say that we are hurting is an understatement. We are now facing the difficult task of starting completely over with our two young boys. My husband is a prior Navy service member and is currently searching for IT work as we attempt to rebuild our lives and find stability again.
Right now, we need help with finding a place to live and replacing the basic necessities we lost—beds, clothing, household items, and all the things it takes to build a new home & life.
With my husband still in search of work, we are hoping to gather enough funds for a deposit and first month’s rent on another home. Please know that any amount of help, no matter how small, would mean more to our family than I can put into words.
