My name is Dominique, and I am a single mother of three daughters. My youngest daughter, Dream, is an 8-year-old nonverbal child with autism who depends on me for her daily care, stability, and safety.
Over the past few years, my family went through a severe trial. When my teenage daughter faced major personal challenges, I took full responsibility and checked myself into a 30-day rehabilitation program to get the help we needed. With God’s grace, I am now 755 days sober and counting. During that month away, her father took temporary custody. However, while I was getting healthy, custody and administrative details were quietly altered without my consent.
Since returning, I have rebuilt my life from the ground up:
Full-Time Employment: I secured full-time work and earned Employee of the Month four times this past year.
Daily Sacrifice: We do not own a vehicle, so I commute on foot or via transit, often skipping meals to stretch my minimum-wage check to cover rent, electricity, and water.
Primary Caregiver: Despite missing financial support and her father drawing her SSI benefits, I handle all of Dream’s daily needs, doctor visits, and routines.
At our recent court hearing, the judge made it clear that because a Guardian ad Litem has been appointed and the opposing side has strong local ties, I cannot navigate this custody battle alone—I urgently need a specialized attorney in special-needs and autism family law.
I am turning to God, my faith, and the community to help us raise the funds needed for legal representation. Every dollar donated goes directly toward retainer fees to ensure Dream remains in a safe, loving, and supportive home with her mother.
