Hi friends! If you have ever met my sister, Justine Rickman, you remember her. Some of you know her as Justine, and others as Tina. I call her Tina, or sister. She has a beautiful smile, a kind heart, and an outstanding personality. She is someone who truly shows up for others.

I am here to ask for support, to help my resilient sister through a life-changing recovery journey after a traumatic dog attack.

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Tina was attacked by one of the dogs that lived in her home, a pitbull. It happened in the house. The attack lasted for over an hour, and throughout it, she fought relentlessly to stay alive. Severely injured with major blood loss, she was finally able to escape the house, using her feet to open the door and crawl outside in hopes that someone would see her and help. Thankfully, someone did.

The aftermath was nothing short of catastrophic: rushed to the nearest Hospital with critical injuries, then airlifted to a Level 1 Trauma Hospital—it was a nightmare that no one should endure. She needed multiple emergency surgeries; doctors had no choice but to amputate her left arm due to the extent of her wounds and life-threatening blood loss. A second surgical team worked for hours to save her right arm, which, thankfully, was successful. She also sustained multiple other devastating injuries, including the loss of most of her right breast and severe trauma to her right leg.

Her spirit remains incredibly strong.  In a situation that would break most people, she was the one lifting the room, despite everything she had endured. I had the opportunity to be with her Monday through Thursday, and I can tell you, she has not lost her humor. Her spirit is still intact!

Tina now faces a long and incredibly difficult road ahead. She will require additional surgeries, a prosthetic arm, extensive physical therapy, and ongoing emotional support. Due to the severity of her injuries, she will not be able to return to work.

Her journey is just beginning—and it requires more than just medical support; it needs kindness, strength, and hope from all of us who love her deeply.

We are organizing this fundraiser to help support her now and into the future as she navigates the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead.

Tina has always taken care of others. This is our chance to show up for her.
