5 year old Joseph Stives was admitted to El Paso Children's Hospital last week with symptoms of Kawasaki Disease. His condition fluctuated throughout the week and he remains in ICU. However, he is not responding to treatment and the doctors are transferring him to Austin Children's Hospital.
In the midst of this, his mother Bianca, gave birth to a baby boy and has not been able to be with him. Richard has been tending to both Joseph and Bianca.
This family is facing not only the emotional strain of having a critically ill child, but also the financial burden of extended hospitalization, travel, lodging, and time away from work.
We are asking our community to come together and help ease some of this burden. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help offset medical and travel expenses and allow the family to focus on what matters most—being together and supporting Joseph as he fights to get better.
