Displaced at 60. Fighting to Rebuild.

Update — July 20, 2026

I wanted to provide an update because my situation has changed yet again.

When I relocated to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, I was grateful to have a temporary place to stay while I tried to recover, navigate disability, and figure out my next steps. Unfortunately, the temporary living arrangement that I was counting on to give me time to recover and rebuild has become unstable. It is no longer a viable solution for Salem and me, and I am now working urgently to find a stable place to live.

I have identified a small 55+ income-restricted apartment community in Harrison, Arkansas that may provide the stable, independent living situation I desperately need. My goal is to secure a safe place where I can manage my health, care for Salem, and finally have the ability to focus on rebuilding my life.

The challenge is getting there.

I need help covering the upfront costs associated with moving: application fees, deposits, first month’s rent, pet deposit, utility connections, moving expenses, and basic living costs while my disability claim continues through the process.

Your support is helping me bridge the gap between where I am now and a place where I can begin rebuilding.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, prayed, encouraged me, or simply taken the time to read my story. Every act of kindness has helped me keep moving forward.

Thank you for your time and support

Previous Update — July 15, 2026

I never imagined I would be writing something like this.

I am 60 years old, and for most of my adult life I worked in the technology field, supporting myself through consulting and project management. Like many consultants, I moved from contract to contract, building a career without the long-term security and benefits that many people assume came with it.

Three and a half years ago, that career came to an abrupt stop.

Since then, I have applied for countless jobs, exhausted my savings, lost my home, and watched every plan I had for the future slowly disappear. At the end of May, I was evicted from the house I had been living in near Huntsville, Alabama. Today, I am displaced and staying in a small pool house in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

I am grateful to have a roof over my head.

But having shelter is not the same as having stability.

I don't have a proper kitchen. I don't have the independence I once took for granted. Every day is shaped by chronic pain, uncertainty, and the constant reality that I have no income while trying to navigate disability, government assistance, and the overwhelming challenge of rebuilding a life that unraveled faster than I could recover.

My body is failing me in ways I never expected. I have no cartilage in either hip joint, my right knee is now deteriorating, and even routine errands can leave me in severe pain. I am not old enough to retire, not physically capable of many jobs, and after years of trying to re-enter the workforce, I am facing a reality I never imagined: I have reached a point where I cannot rebuild this alone.

I am also trying to care for my 16-year-old cat, Salem, who has been my constant companion through all of this. Like everything else, even her basic needs—food, litter, flea treatment, and veterinary care—require resources that I simply don't have right now.

Your support helps cover immediate living expenses while also making it possible for me to pursue the medical evaluations and documentation needed for my disability claim. It helps pay for transportation, utilities, insurance, pet care, storage, phone service, and the countless basic expenses that continue even when income has stopped.

More than anything, your support gives me something that has become incredibly difficult to find over the last three and a half years:

Breathing room.

A chance to stabilize.

A chance to rebuild.

I have always been the person who solved problems. Asking for help does not come naturally to me, but I have reached a place where I cannot do this by myself.

If you are able to donate, thank you. If you are able to share this campaign, thank you. Every act of kindness helps create another step forward while I continue fighting to rebuild my life.

Thank you for taking the time to read, donate, or share my story. It means more than you could possibly know.
