Helping a friend keep her children safe

A good friend I grew up with is in a tough spot. Her husband is seeking a divorce and has proved unsafe around their children. She had to retain a lawyer to keep their home and protect their children. She does work, but her income is short of keeping up with bills, growing children and lawyer fees combined. She got a notice from her lawyer that she has 30 days to pay the entire balance due, or the lawyer will her drop the case and send her to collections. She really needs this lawyer, because her soon-to-be ex is connected in the community and she needs the ability to keep her children protected.
