An update from Devin — October 28, 2026
I wish I were writing a different update.
On May 18, 2026, I unexpectedly lost my job in Palm Harbor, Florida, where I worked in customer support and patient outreach.
I had moved to Florida in October 2025 to rebuild my life. For a year, I had my own apartment, worked, paid my bills, and experienced a sense of independence and stability that meant more to me than I can explain.
When I lost my job, I believed I could find another position before my savings and resources ran out.
I applied for dozens of jobs, attended interviews, contacted employers, and continued searching for full-time work. I accepted financial help from people who cared about me and did everything I could to keep going.
But I couldn’t replace my income quickly enough.
On October 25, 2026, I had to leave my home in Florida and return to Georgia.
Losing that home has been devastating. It was the first place in a long time where I genuinely felt I was building a future.
I’m now staying temporarily with family near Monroe, Georgia, while actively applying for full-time customer service, patient support, appointment-setting, inside sales, and remote positions. I’ve already submitted additional applications since arriving and contacted staffing agencies.
I’m not waiting for something to fall into my lap. I’m trying to get back to work.
Unfortunately, I still have urgent expenses that could make rebuilding even harder.
My Jeep payment is behind. Bridgecrest informed me that a $447 payment could allow an extension and help address an approaching credit-reporting deadline, although the arrangement is subject to the account’s status when payment is made.
I also have a car insurance bill approaching, and right now I’m short even the $15 needed for my phone bill. I need my phone for employer calls, interviews, and staying connected while searching for employment.
I’m asking for temporary assistance with:
- The $447 vehicle payment and possible extension
- My $15 phone bill
- Car insurance
- Gas, food, and basic necessities while I secure employment
My goal is simple: protect my transportation, stay reachable for employers, get back on payroll, and rebuild enough financial stability to live independently again.
I would eventually love to return to Florida. I already built a life there once, and I hope to have that opportunity again under more secure circumstances.
To the person who previously donated $100, thank you. That generosity mattered during a very difficult time.
I understand that many people are struggling and cannot afford to give. If you can help with even a few dollars, I would be sincerely grateful. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this fundraiser or keeping me in your prayers would mean a great deal.
I’m not asking anyone to solve my life for me. I’m asking for a little help getting through this period while I continue doing the work to change my circumstances.
Thank you for reading.
God bless you.
