Urgent Help for Anisa Yaeger

Dear Sunrise Community,

We are reaching out to you about our friend Anisa Yaeger, former Bright Angel kindergarten and substitute teacher at Sunrise for many years.

She continues to experience challenges from a health condition which has affected her mobility, along with a lack of family support and resources since her Dad died about four years ago. Since then her quality of life has declined significantly.

For more than a year she has been living in a women’s shelter, in Duncan and often visiting the food bank. Since August she has only been able to access the shelter between 8 pm and 8 am and only if there are beds available. She is spending time in parks, at the pool and the library. A couple of months ago, she spent two nights on a park bench when the shelter was temporarily closed.

Anisa is still full of hope for healing, finding a home and work that would restore her quality of life, and to be part of a community where she could share the gift of friendship and love.

Despite all the challenges and difficulties, Anisa keeps her warm and loving disposition, her faith, and hope for a better future.

We are seeking funds to build up resources to secure a rental suite, food and to provide naturopathic care to help restore her health.

By contributing to this fund for Anisa, you will jumpstart her new life so she can thrive again and live a life full of purpose, joy, security and safety.

Additionally we are seeking:

A room or suite for rent, or alternatively, temporary or long term house sitting opportunities.

Work: Anisa has completed Waldorf remedial training and healing education for children. She could do sewing, knitting, dressmaking, cooking, light cleaning, telemarketing or any kind of phone work.

A used and inexpensive or free car

A computer

Please pray for Anisa and agree with us for her healing, that God would bless her with good work for her hands, a secure and affordable home and that she would have love and friendship in her life.

Update: Thank you so much to everyone who has generously donated to Anisa; she is so grateful for your donations, prayers and well-wishes!

Amazingly and generously, she has been gifted with a suite free of charge near the 7th Day Adventist Church in Duncan for the last few months. This suite is available to her until the end of April. She was also kindly given a sewing machine and a computer, so she can communicate with people by email.

She is now able to do sewing and knitting projects and welcomes the work. She can really make anything and does excellent work, including linen tunics or dresses, or smaller mending projects. You can reach her at anisayaeger@gmail.com or call Marti at 250-466-2798 or connect with Mima at Sunrise and we can help facilitate.

It looks likely that she will be able to rent a room in a house for at least 3 months beginning May 1st. We are still hoping to raise more funds since the room is $1000 a month, which is nearly all of her monthly government income.

We are very grateful for all the support each of you have provided and hope you will continue to remember her and share her story. If anyone has ideas for work or for how she could bring in more income through sewing, and other handwork projects, perhaps with a website presence, please let us know!

With gratitude!

Marti Smith

Dear Community,

Thank you for all your contributions to Anisa -- she is very grateful for all of your love, care, prayers and financial contributions. She is currently renting a room in a house with other women and is being well-cared for. We haven't seen any improvements in her health yet, but are still hopeful that her quality of life and her health will be restored.

We aren't certain about the long-term availability of the suite -- please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and that we would, perhaps with your help, find a suitable and affordable long-term option. She would welcome sewing or mending projects (including mending wool sweaters and socks) as a way to supplement her income and does excellent work. Please reach out to Mima or Marti if you would like to contact her and we'll provide her email.

Emilija (Mima), Anisa's long-term friend and former colleague, is managing the funds you have contributed and will distribute them to Anisa by email transfer and cash payments. Your contributions are being used to supplement her food and rental costs and various health and medical needs and appointments. Her disability income is insufficient to cover rent and food costs so we continue to be grateful for any assistance the community is willing to provide.

With love, Mima and Marti
