I have stage four cancer and am participating in a clinical trial that requires monthly overnight visits to Houston, over 200 miles away. My friend has become my caretaker, sharing her home, providing transportation, and investing her own money to keep her vehicle reliable for these trips. She's given so much of her time and effort without hesitation, even though she never signed up for any of this.
My medical costs have far exceeded what I can manage. Co-pays for appointments, scans, and tests are more than I ever imagined. I also have a feeding tube, which means conventional food isn't an option. Trying to maintain a healthy diet and keep my weight up to 100 pounds is a constant struggle, and nutritional support is way beyond my budget.
I can't afford a home nurse, and my insurance hasn't been able to help. Your support would mean so much as I focus on my treatment and recovery. Thank you for standing with me and my friend during this time.
Any little bit will help. Especially for the gas and lodging to go with the answered prayer of MD Anderson in Houston.
I plan on living longer than what this C is suggesting for me.
I was informed that some were inquiring what type of cancer I have. It's Head and Neck, a Squamous Cell Carcinoma. It started in the base of my tongue and sublingual tonsil. Moving to my lymph nodes, and recently the base of my skull. I start my chemo tomorrow. (10-16). This is the 3rd kind. But this is from the clinical trial (scary), so, it's a different way of attacking the ba...very bad cells. The donations and prayers have got me here. Still hanging on.
God is good all of the time.
