Help us settle Mummy's medical debts

My name is Jim Sebastian. I'm here in the US where we can still worship freely and with little fear of martyrdom which is such a common part of parish life in Nigeria. I'm serving as the "collections guy" for this campaign. Augustine is a layman at a parish community in Nnerim Ndugba, a village situated in the Isu Local Government Area of Imo State in southeastern Nigeria, nestled within a network of communities rich in Igbo heritage and cultural history. We have worked together with the parish priest, Father Iyke Nwagha, in building an Adoration Chapel at Saints Peter and Paul Parish. Some of you may have even contributed to that successful GiveSendGo campaign; that chapel is a reality today.

This fundraiser is for Augustine himself, whose family has endured a long family illness. Here is what Augustine tells us:

------------------------------------------

My name is Augustine, and I write this with a broken heart. My beloved mother was my world, a strong, loving, and selfless woman who gave everything for her children. She was our strength, our comfort, and the centre of our family.

A few months ago, our world collapsed. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer and kidney failure. From that day, our lives became endless hospital corridors, sleepless nights, and desperate prayers.

We moved from one hospital to another across Imo State and beyond. We paid for consultations, emergency admissions, surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, blood transfusions, and continuous dialysis just to keep her alive. On one of those desperate days, while rushing her to NTH Enugu, we had a serious accident and crashed into someone's car. We are still responsible for repairing the damages from that crash, adding even more to the heavy burden we already carry.

We sold everything we could. We emptied our savings. When that was not enough, we borrowed heavily from friends, family, and cooperative societies. We believed she would survive. We held onto hope with everything we had.

Every injection cost money. Every dialysis session cost money. Every chemotherapy and radiotherapy session cost money.

Despite all our sacrifices, prayers, and the heavy debts we carried...we lost her.

My mother died on 21st July.

She left us drowning in grief and in debt. Today, the people we borrowed from are asking for their money, we still have the car repair costs hanging over us, and we do not even have enough to pay for her funeral expenses.

I am humbly appealing to you.

Please help us.

Your kind donation, no matter how small, will go a long way to:

Settle the outstanding hospital bills and medical loans we took to fight for her life

Cover the repair of the car we damaged while rushing her to the hospital

Pay for her funeral and burial expenses so she can rest in dignity

Give our family a chance to breathe and begin healing after this painful loss.

If you cannot donate right now, please share this campaign. Your share could reach someone who might be able to help. Please also keep us in your prayers.

Mummy fought bravely till the end.

Thank you from the depths of our hearts for any kindness you can show. May God bless you abundantly and keep your loved ones safe.

With deep gratitude,

Augustine
