Our family is going through one of the most difficult times of our lives. My son, Douglas, has been diagnosed with aplastic anemia, a serious condition that affects the bone marrow’s ability to produce enough healthy blood cells.
Since his diagnosis, Douglas has needed blood and platelet transfusions to help keep him stable while he prepares for the treatment he needs. He will continue receiving platelet transfusions as part of his medical care leading up to his bone marrow transplant, with the goal of keeping him as stable as possible throughout this challenging process.
We are now preparing for his bone marrow transplant, a very important step in his treatment. His twin brother is being considered as a potential donor, and our family is holding on to hope as we face this difficult and uncertain journey together.
As his mother, my greatest wish is to be by Douglas’s side and provide him with all the care, love, and support he needs. His treatment will require someone to care for him 24 hours a day, which means I will have to stop working so I can dedicate myself fully to his care throughout this process.
While we focus on his health and recovery, our household expenses will continue. Rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and other essential bills do not stop. We also need to prepare for additional medical expenses and other treatment-related costs that may not be covered by insurance.
With humility and a heart full of love for my son, I am asking for help during this incredibly difficult time for our family. Every donation, no matter how small, will help us cover our essential living expenses and maintain some financial stability while I take care of Douglas. Your generosity will allow me to focus on what matters most: being there for my son and supporting him through this fight.

Ayúdanos a superar la anemia aplásica de mi hijo Douglas
Nuestra familia está atravesando uno de los momentos más difíciles de nuestras vidas. Mi hijo Douglas ha sido diagnosticado con anemia aplásica, una enfermedad grave que afecta la capacidad de la médula ósea para producir suficientes células sanguíneas sanas.
Desde su diagnóstico, Douglas ha necesitado transfusiones de sangre y plaquetas para ayudar a mantenerlo estable mientras se prepara para el tratamiento que necesita. Actualmente, nos estamos preparando para el trasplante de médula ósea, un paso muy importante en su tratamiento. Su hermano mellizo es el posible donante, y nuestra familia mantiene la esperanza mientras avanzamos por este camino lleno de desafíos e incertidumbre.
Como madre, mi mayor deseo es estar al lado de Douglas y brindarle todo el cuidado, el amor y el apoyo que necesita. Su tratamiento requerirá que tenga un cuidador disponible las 24 horas del día, lo que significa que tendré que dejar de trabajar para poder dedicarme por completo a él durante este proceso.
Mientras nos concentramos en su salud y recuperación, los gastos de nuestro hogar continuarán. El alquiler, los servicios, la comida, el transporte y las demás facturas esenciales no se detienen. También debemos prepararnos para afrontar los gastos adicionales y otros costos relacionados con su tratamiento que podrían no estar cubiertos por el seguro.
