On the morning of Wednesday, October 28, 2026, a devastating fire broke out at my parents’ and brother’s family home in Bjelovar, Croatia. In a matter of minutes, so much of what they had spent years building, working for, and making memories in was destroyed.
The fire caused extensive damage throughout the house, including the living areas and roof. Belongings and furniture were destroyed, and the water used to put out the fire caused additional damage.
Being so far away while my family faces this heartbreaking situation is incredibly difficult. Thankfully, family, friends, neighbors, and kind people in the community have already come together to help with the cleanup and begin the difficult process of recovery.
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help. I am creating this fundraiser to give family and friends here in the United States and elsewhere a way to support my parents and my brother's family during this incredibly difficult time.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help them take the next steps toward rebuilding. Contributions will go toward the extensive repairs, replacing essential belongings, and other unexpected expenses that come with recovering from a house fire.
Rebuilding will take time, patience, and a great deal of support. More than anything, I want my family to have the opportunity to restore their home and begin feeling secure again.
