Help Support His Healing After a Life-Changing Stroke
Our family is asking for prayers and support during an incredibly difficult season. Since December 10, our lives have changed in ways we never expected. What began as a small stroke at home quickly became a long and challenging medical journey filled with hospital stays, therapy, setbacks, surgeries, and uncertainty.
He suffered a major stroke that nearly took his life. By the grace of God, nurses were able to bring him back, but the stroke caused serious damage to the left side of his brain and left him with paralysis on the right side of his body. He was placed on life support, and our family was forced to face the fear of losing him while also trying to understand what recovery might look like.
Thankfully, God was not finished with his story. With the help of Encompass Health, Athletico, and dedicated therapists, he began making progress. After weeks of therapy and hard work, he regained enough strength to walk with a cane and assistance. That progress gave us hope, but his right arm has still not recovered, and he continues to need help with everyday tasks.
In July, he suffered another setback when he fell and fractured his right shoulder. After six weeks in a sling, he had finally healed enough to stop wearing it. Then, on August 27, he fell again, hit the door frame hard enough to be knocked unconscious, broke his right hip, and suffered brain bleeds on both sides of his brain.
Doctors repaired his hip and continued monitoring the brain bleeds with CT scans. After he was moved back to rehab, he initially seemed to be doing well, but then he became extremely lethargic, sleepy, and unable to eat. Our family knew this was not normal for him, so we advocated for more testing. Another CT scan showed the bleeding had worsened and was putting pressure on his brain.
He was transported to CMC Main for emergency surgery, where doctors placed a drain to relieve the pressure and remove the blood. He is still in the hospital recovering, and we are taking things one day at a time. Each day brings challenges, but we are holding tightly to faith, hope, and prayer.
Since January, I have been his full-time caregiver. I had to quit my part-time job so I could stay home with him around the clock. For a short time, I was able to take him with me and run a few pest control jobs each week between therapy appointments, but once the temperatures became too hot, I had to stop because it was no longer safe for him to sit outside in the truck.
With him unable to work and me limited in what I can do while caring for him, the financial strain has become overwhelming. The bills have continued to come in, and disability does not come close to covering everything. Friends and family have helped us through some very difficult moments, and we are deeply grateful for every bit of love and support we have received.
Any donation given through this fundraiser will help with medical expenses, household bills, transportation to appointments, therapy, rehabilitation needs, and the ongoing costs of his care and recovery. Every gift, no matter the amount, will help relieve some of the burden and allow us to focus on what matters most: his healing and our family’s continued strength.
Most of all, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for his continued healing, strength, protection, and peace. Please pray for our family as we continue walking through this long road together. We believe in the power of prayer, and we know God has carried us this far.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Thank you for your love, prayers, generosity, and support. It means more to us than words can express. 🙏💙
