I never thought I would find myself writing something like this. Asking for help is not something that comes easily to me, and putting my situation out there for others to see is incredibly humbling. But right now, I am scared of what the next few weeks may bring, and I am reaching out because I don’t know what else to do.
We are facing the very real possibility of losing our home because we have fallen behind on rent, and I am running out of time to make things right.
I accepted a job believing the pay plan that was presented to me would allow me to meet my financial responsibilities. Unfortunately, I was misled about the actual pay structure. The income I was counting on never came, and despite my best efforts, I have fallen further and further behind. I am now approaching three months behind on rent, and the weight of that reality is overwhelming.
I want nothing more than to be able to handle this on my own. I have been trying to figure out how to catch up, how to make the numbers work, and how to get myself out of this situation. I have taken steps to change my circumstances and have already found a better job. I started just two weeks ago, and I am hopeful that this new opportunity will finally put me on the right path. The difficult part is that I haven’t received my first paycheck yet, and I simply don’t have the time I need for my new income to catch up with what I already owe.
I am doing what I can to move forward, but I need help getting through this immediate crisis before I lose the place I call home. Home is comfort, stability, a safe place, and family. The thought of losing that stability for my family is frightening, and it is not something I ever imagined I would have to face.
I am starting this fundraiser because I need help catching up on my overdue rent and covering essential housing expenses while I get established in my new job. I am not looking for someone else to take responsibility for my future. I am asking for a helping hand to get me through a difficult stretch so I can keep working, regain my footing, and begin putting this behind me.
This is not easy for me to share. I know that so many people are struggling with rising costs and their own financial worries. I understand that not everyone has something to spare, and I would never want anyone to feel obligated to give. But if you are in a position to help, even a small donation would mean more to me than I can adequately put into words. Every dollar would bring me one step closer to catching up and keeping my home.
If you are unable to donate, sharing my fundraiser would mean so much, too. You never know who might see it or who might be able to help.
I am trying to hold on to hope during a time when things feel incredibly uncertain. I have made changes, I am working toward a better future, and I am doing everything I can to get back on stable ground. I just need a little help making it through the gap between where I am today and where I am working so hard to be.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, your prayers, and even for sharing this with someone else. My asking for help is a vulnerable thing to do, but I am choosing to believe that people can come together and make a difference when someone is struggling.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me fight to keep my home. Your support would mean more than simply helping me pay rent. It would give me a chance to breathe, to keep moving forward, and to rebuild without the fear of losing the roof over my head.
Thank you for giving me hope when I need it most.
