Help Maria Galvez Come Home – Ramp, Walk-In Shower & Recovery After Millerton Crash

On October 15, 2026, Maria Galvez and her sons Gabriel Gallegos and David Galvez were in a serious crash near Millerton and Auberry roads. Their vehicle was sent into a ditch. Maria was airlifted with major injuries; Gabriel and David were taken to Valley Children’s Hospital.

Maria suffered severe damage to her ankle and lower leg that required reconstruction with carbon-fiber components, plus chest injuries still being evaluated. Gabriel’s face hit the center console—he needed stitches, was initially not breathing and in critical condition, but is now stable and home. David had no major injuries. Their young twin daughters were not in the car.

Local news coverage of the crash is available here:

Maria has been the steady heart of this family for years. Her younger brother Kevin, whom she took in at age 14 after their mother died, shared this:

“Maria has been an amazing mother and sister all throughout our lives. She has been there for me since she took me in after our mother died when I was 14. Without her I wouldn’t be the man I am today. She is an amazing mother, wife, and sister… and has made us into the people we are today. She has always made sacrifices for the well-being of her kids, for me, and her husband. She has had great courage during the last year facing an ill child who was diagnosed with a head tumor who was also hurt in the accident. Any help from people would mean a lot to her and us. It would make the long journey to recovery ahead a lot easier for her, Gabriel, and David Jr. God bless everyone who has helped us. Anything you can provide is a blessing. Thank you!”

What is needed right now

A hospital inspector has said Maria cannot be safely released home until a ramp and walk-in shower are in place. Her husband is already reconstructing the deck and ramp and installing the shower.

Funds will help cover:

  1. Home accessibility modifications (ramp, deck work, and walk-in shower) required for discharge
  2. Medical recovery costs and household needs while the family heals
  3. Buffer for follow-up care

Skilled volunteers are also needed. Carpenters, plumbers, or anyone experienced with accessible ramp or shower work can make a big difference and stretch every dollar further.

There is no set goal—whatever is given is a blessing and will go directly to the family. Photos and recovery updates will be posted as they become available.

This campaign is coordinated by Todd Vasquez in close contact with Maria, David, and Kevin. All funds go directly to the family.

Please share this online.

A quick share on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or by text can reach someone who wants to help. Copy the link and post it with a short note like: “Family from our community needs help getting Maria home after a serious crash—ramp and walk-in shower required. Any gift or skilled volunteer help is a blessing.”

Please pray, give, or share if you can. Thank you for walking with this family.
