A good friend to many of us, Jake Gentry, is currently traveling through one of life’s challenging valleys. As a true man of God, we know Jake as a gifted leader in the YA Fellowship, a source of humor, insight and a life traveler who has been asked to overcome many obstacles. As I know that many of you have been good friends and cheerleaders for Jake, it seems that now may be a time to share our blessings with our friend in order to help lighten his load.
Jake, and his rescue-dog Shadow, have lived in Oakdale for many years. Three years ago, he was forced to retire due to a number of health issues. Because of his cumulative financial challenges, he has come to the point of feeling his only option may be to sell his home. This would bring a high degree of uncertainty and fear. As he explored this, he found that after settling all accounts, he wouldn’t be left with much. His current mortgage is lower than rent, so leaving his house brings future financial uncertainty. He has also had challenges finding safe and appropriate roommates, although this search is continuing.
As many of us appreciate the person that Jake is, I know that some would like a chance to help our friend through his present challenges and help him keep his home. If you feel called to help, any contribution, regardless of size, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for thoughtfully considering this request.
PS. Some of you know that Jake is pursuing getting a movie made of a book he wrote. These projects can be extremely fickle but if there is a significant payout from the effort, Jake would look to repay any contributions.
