Help Danny Tommo’s Mum Relocate

Help relocate this woman. Who can never go back to her home.

This is the mother of Danny Thomas, known as Danny Tommo. You may already have seen the reports about what has been happening to her, and how she has been targeted.

This fundraiser has been set up to help her relocate. She cannot return to the home she was renting. She needs a new place to live, and she needs it now.

After her husband died, as a result of suicide, she lost her home in France. She could not face going back go back there after the trauma. That grief never left her. The same pain, the same shock, the same sense of being thrown out of her own life, is happening again. She is an emotional wreck.

She has not only lost her husband and her homes. In the late 2000s she was diagnosed with throat cancer. It came back. Only a matter of months ago she got through the most recent fight. She was very ill. People from the church around her helped her when she needed it most. She has only just come out the other side of that cancer and then this.

A journalist doorstepped her. She pleaded with them. She said she was living alone. She said she was a widow. She said she wanted to be left alone. She said she did not want any problems. They went ahead anyway. They published her name. They published where she lives. They made it possible for anyone who wanted to harm her to walk up to her front door.

After that coverage in the Daily Mail, the dots could be joined. Far-left extremists threatened to murder her. In the middle of the night she was woken and told that there were threats to her life. She went into panic. She got under the table, clinging to her German Shepherd, and waited for help to arrive. She was later told she would have to leave the property and never return. No time to take it in. Just the order to get out and not come back.

She has been separated from that dog. The German Shepherd was not simply a companion. It was her living link to her late husband, the animal she held onto in the dark while she waited for help. One of the most painful things she faces now is not knowing where she will be, where she will go, and whether the dog will be able to go with her.

In the last 24 hours, the head of CID sat with her and made it categorical: she must find somewhere else to live. Hearing that from someone in authority has had a devastating impact. It confirmed what she already felt in her body. She is not safe where she is. She can never go back.

She does not have the financial means to do this herself. Relocating at speed a deposit, rent, transport, the basic cost of starting again somewhere she can actually sleep is beyond what she can carry alone. It would be right for the country to rally together and help her in this time of need.

No matter what side of politics you are on, this is a widow who has lost her husband, lost two homes, and fought throat cancer twice. The grief is unimaginable. The press in this country and the way a story like this travels across the world, has put this woman in a state of absolute fear. Fear for her life.

Fear for any place she might still call safe. Fear of being torn from the dog that kept her going.

Taken together, these are not separate blows. They are one long traumatic stretch, and she is still in it.

Every pound raised here is for one purpose: to relocate Danny Tommo’s mother into a place of safety. A roof she can actually stay under. Distance from those who have threatened her. The chance to keep her dog with her if that can be done. The safe haven she so desperately wants and deserves.
