Life can change in the blink of an eye, and for Danely and her family, that became a heartbreaking reality.
Danely, Angie, Mauricio, and 7-year-old Melanie were involved in a serious rollover accident that left their family facing a long road to recovery.
Thankfully, Angie and Mauricio sustained only minor injuries. Danely, a mother, suffered fractures to her pelvis, shoulder, and tailbone. Her 7-year-old daughter, Melanie, suffered severe brain and facial injuries and remains in the ICU.
Despite the seriousness of her injuries, Melanie is showing encouraging signs of improvement. Today, she is breathing on her own, off the ventilator, moving her hands, and even beginning to speak a little. These are incredible steps forward, but she still faces surgery and a long, uncertain recovery.
As Danely works toward her own recovery while worrying about her little girl, this family is facing more than anyone should have to carry at once.
