Help 7-Year-Old Homeschooler with Dyslexia Thrive

Hello,

I am a single m working remotely, doing absolutely everything I can to give my 7-year-old son, Caden, the intentional, loving education he deserves. He is currently in the second grade, but due to severe dyslexia and dysgraphia, he is reading at a kindergarten level.

Watching him struggle with reading breaks my heart. It brings me to tears to see him in tears over the frustration of trying to blend sounds, master word families, and decode sentences. He often feels inadequate, disappointed in himself, or worried that he is disappointing me. But he could not be more wrong! I am so incredibly proud of him.

Outside of reading, Caden is brilliantly smart. Along with dyslexia, he has ADHD, and it truly feels like he has a superpower or a "super brain." In other subjects, he is already functioning far above his peers. He is highly visual, bright, and capable of so much. I constantly tell him that if we can just clear these initial reading hurdles together, his entire world will change, and he will finally see just how gifted he really is.

Public schools in our area do offer dyslexia intervention, but it comes at a cost I am not willing to pay. To receive those services, I would have to enroll him full-time into an institution and system that goes against everything I actively advocate for as a homeschool mom. I want to protect his education, his confidence, and his unique mind from being institutionalized.

I do not have family to rely on, and I do not have a large personal network of friends or a built-in community to turn to. It is just the two of us, and I am doing my absolute best. That is why I am putting my heart out there and making this desperate plea to the broader community of homeschoolers, families who believe in educational freedom, and anyone who wants to help a bright young boy succeed.

I have found a private, certified dyslexia therapist who can give Caden the exact intensive, specialized intervention he needs. The cost is $70 an hour, with a strict minimum requirement of 4 days a week to ensure the program works.

My goal is to raise enough money to fully cover his private reading tutor for the next 6 months so he can get caught up to speed.

Here is the exact breakdown of the funding needed:

  1. Hourly Rate: $70
  2. Weekly Schedule: 4 hours per week ($280/week)
  3. Monthly Cost: Approx. $1,120
  4. 3- Month Goal: $3,360

Every single dollar raised will go directly to paying his therapist's invoices. If you are a fellow homeschool parent, someone who believes in keeping our children out of government institutions, or simply someone who wants to help a single mom unlock her son's super brain, please consider donating or sharing our link.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.

With deep gratitude,

Wendy
