Edith just turned 8 today. She has what we believe is PANS/PANDAS. This is a pediatric acute neuro psychiatric syndrome that causes brain inflammation. For Edith, this manifests with rage, severe mood changes, tics, ocd like symptoms, anxiety, and many other symptoms. While we work with specialists to navigate this, we humbly ask for help.

After years of believing this was tantrums or a behavioral issue, we see that this is not the case. Year after year, we kept hoping these symptoms would fade, but they have only gotten more intense. Our girl is in there and she is crying for help. She is a very sweet kid and has deeply cares for everyone. She deserves her childhood to not look like constant flares, constant fight or flight. Her nervous system (and ours) is on high alert at all times. She deserves peace.

As we approach what healing looks like for her, we know that it could be a long road and years of healing. We want the best for her, but also know that insurance does not cover any of her treatments or specialists. Everything we do or will be doing for her is out of pocket. We have set a 3k goal on here, but the reality is that this is just the beginning.
