My name is Stacey Geary, and I am writing to you with a humble request for help and support during an incredibly difficult time for our family.

In September of 2022, my husband, Derek D. Geary, was involved in a tragic traffic collision while taking three of our grandchildren out for a day of mountain biking. Since that day, Derek has remained incarcerated due to the circumstances surrounding his case. There are important legal steps now taking place, and we are working hard to ensure that Derek receives the fair and lawful process every person is entitled to. I never wanted it to come to this, but now I must expose all of the wrongdoing which was done to my family as well as the other family involved.

Because of ongoing legal proceedings, I cannot share all the details beyond what I have shared on my social media pages. What I can say is that there are serious concerns about how Derek’s case was handled, and we are now needing specialized legal assistance, transcripts, expert reviews, and other case-related expenses in order to continue fighting for truth and justice.

 Derek is not defined by this moment captured in .45 seconds. It is a tragedy on both sides. Regardless of appearances, all we wanted was for the truth to be told. Derek is a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a loyal friend who “never met a stranger.” Many know him from his 21 years of service on church worship teams, his work with youth small groups, and his volunteer time as a camp counselor and church safety team member. I have personally received over 20 letters and hundreds of messages of support, encouragement and prayer from the community in support of Derek D. Geary and his character. Derek has been steady, patient, generous, and deeply committed to his faith and his family. I have stood by him throughout this ordeal while managing serious health challenges of my own, and I continue to believe in Derek’s heart, character, and integrity. I will never give up fighting, but I can't do this alone. I have suffered mostly in silence over the last 3 years.

We need help — spiritually, emotionally, and financially — to continue the long legal process ahead. Your support would not only assist Derek’s case, but would help lighten the overwhelming burden upon me. I have exhausted all financial resources including selling our home. At this point I do not care where live or what my housing accommodations are as long as the truth is revealed, Derek's good name is restored and we are together again. Any funds collected will be sent directly to our appeals attorney who has carefully and selectively chosen to represent us during this next stage of our fight against wrongful conviction.
