Hello friends, family, and kind hearts, we are coming to you to ask for your urgent prayers and support for our brand-new grandson, Scotty, and his resilient young parents, Hannah and Landon.
We have already witnessed the power of miracles, but this sweet baby boy is now in the middle of the fight of his life. When Scotty was born, he entered this world without a heartbeat and was not breathing. For nearly 15 minutes, medical heroes performed life saving care and fought to bring him to life. By the grace of God and the quick action of his medical team, his heart began to beat, and he was revived.
He was rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Champaign, where he is undergoing intensive treatment and is in critical condition. He is currently on a therapeutic cooling blanket to help protect his brain and give his body the best chance to recover.
While his long-term prognosis remains unknown, we have received our first answer to prayer: he has brain activity! He is in there, and he is fighting so hard. For the first several hours of his life, he was completely unresponsive, unmoving, and seemingly lifeless. Our worst fear was that we had already lost him, and machines were just keeping his body alive. However, those fears were eased later in the evening as we began witnessing signs of life. He has been showing more responses, squinting to light changes, arm and leg movements, and even grasping our fingers with his tiny little hand! While we are praising God for every little improvement, we know his fight is far from over.
Watching these young new parents navigate this crisis is absolutely heartbreaking. Hannah and Landon are living through every parent’s worst nightmare. But they are strong and determined. They remain at his side, wanting to be there for every monitor beep, every doctor's update, and every moment he opens his eyes. But while their world has stopped, the reality of bills and expenses has not. With an unknown prognosis and a very long journey ahead, we want to start providing as much help as possible to help cover any financial burdens they may face in the next few weeks and months.
Between possible missed work, meals on the go, and the looming mountain of intensive medical bills potentially not covered by insurance, the financial burden can quickly become overwhelming.
We are stepping out in faith to start this GiveSendGo to stand in the gap for this young family. Our goal is to ease the weight of these potential financial pressures so Hannah and Landon can focus entirely on being there to hold their miracle baby's hand.
