My historic apartment building went up in flames last night. It was built in the late 1800s.
My daughter, her fiancé, and their 2 babies moved in with me (& my beloved dog) this summer so we could all save money for a bigger house and continue intergenerational living.
We are so blessed that we and all living creatures got out alive tonight. Everyone is safe. The first floor is destroyed, the second floor is partially damaged, the halls have been torn up throughout the building, including on our floor, the third and top floor.
** I originally posted that our apartment and belongings were unscathed. Although it appears that way, we are discovering that is untrue. Some things we should be able to clean up and keep. Other things, especially all the baby stuff, we'll need to replace. It's a much steeper recovery hill than I imagined in my stupor. But my gratitude for God's miracle remains steadfast.
I have no doubt that God will provide for us. If you're moved to help our family, we would be so grateful.
