Our hearts are heavy as we share that my son has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic gastric cancer. At 29 years old, this was a shock. He is a 10-year medically retired Air Force Veteran, a man who has always put others before himself, helping anyone he could without hesitation. Now, for the first time, he is the one who needs help.
The road ahead will be long and difficult. His treatment plan includes chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. While we are grateful that his medical care is covered, there are many expenses that are not, and those costs are going to start adding up during an already overwhelming time were he will be unable to work for an extended period.
