A Father’s Medical Crisis Has Taken Everything from Him—Please Help Ashkan and His Children Avoid Homelessness
A devoted father of two, a kidney transplant recipient, and a truck driver with nearly 10 years on the road is now facing a medical and financial crisis he cannot overcome alone. After a series of serious surgical complications, he has lost his ability to work, his health insurance, and his financial stability. Now, he is facing the loss of his home while struggling with overwhelming medical bills.
My name is Ashkan Alghasi. I have spent my life working hard and taking responsibility for my family. I raised my two children, a 17-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter, on my own, without their mother’s support or help from anyone else.
In 2008, my kidneys failed, and I underwent a kidney transplant. Despite these serious health challenges, I continued fighting to rebuild my life and provide a stable future for my children. For nearly 10 years, I worked as a professional truck driver, spending long hours on American highways to support my family.
A Surgery That Changed My Life
In March 2026, I underwent major vascular surgery involving an aneurysm near my right shoulder. I was told I could expect to recover and return to work in approximately four weeks. I believed that, after recovering, I would be able to continue working and supporting my children as I had for years.
Unfortunately, my recovery did not go as expected. Instead, I experienced serious complications, severe pain, and significant loss of function in my right arm and hand. Additional surgeries intended to address these problems were followed by further difficulties, leaving me in an even more devastating situation.
During this medical crisis, complications involving blood circulation and blood clots occurred, and a brain aneurysm was also identified. I have serious concerns that mistakes during my initial surgery and subsequent procedures contributed to these complications. These concerns require proper medical and legal investigation.
Since March 30, 2026, my condition has left me largely confined to bed. I struggle with basic daily activities and cannot return to my profession as a truck driver. The career I depended on to support my children has been taken away from me by circumstances I never expected.
I Have Lost My Income, My Insurance, and My Livelihood
Because I can no longer work, I fell behind on my truck and trailer payments and lost them. My personal vehicle is also at risk of repossession.
My financial situation has become so severe that I could no longer afford my monthly health insurance premiums and lost my health insurance coverage. I have received multiple hospital bills that I cannot afford to pay. Without insurance, even obtaining my necessary medications has become a serious financial challenge.
I am now dealing with the consequences of a major medical crisis while facing unpaid medical expenses and struggling to afford the care I need.
My Children and I Are Facing Homelessness
Since April 2026, I have been unable to pay my rent. The unpaid balance has grown to approximately $22,000, and a court has ordered my children and me to vacate our home by October 25, 2026.
I have spent years raising my children alone and working hard to give them a safe and stable life. Now, with no reliable income, serious medical problems, no health insurance, and overwhelming debt, I am struggling to find a way to keep a roof over their heads.
I never imagined that, after surviving kidney failure, a transplant, and years of hard work, I would find myself unable to provide even the most basic necessities for my children.
How Your Support Can Help
We are seeking to raise $50,000 to help my family through this emergency. Donations will help with:
- Outstanding rent and urgent housing expenses.
- A security deposit, initial rent, and moving costs for a new home.
- Unpaid hospital bills, necessary medications, and medical expenses.
- Food, electricity, water, and other essential living expenses.
- Basic financial support while I remain unable to work.
I especially hope this message reaches fellow truck drivers, owner-operators, trucking companies, and people throughout the American trucking community. For nearly a decade, I worked on the road to provide for my family. Today, I am asking for help because I can no longer do it alone.
But this appeal is for everyone who understands how quickly a medical emergency can change a family’s life.
My greatest fear is not what has happened to me, but what will happen to my children if we lose our home. They have already endured so much as I have struggled through surgeries, severe pain, and financial hardship. I want to give them safety and stability, even while I fight to recover.
With the October 25 deadline approaching, time is running out. Any donation, no matter how small, can help us secure housing and meet essential needs. If you cannot donate, please share this appeal with your friends, family, coworkers, and community.
I spent nearly 10 years working hard to support my children and a lifetime fighting through serious health challenges. Today, I am asking for compassion and a helping hand so my children and I can get through this crisis without losing our home.
Thank you for reading my story, sharing it, and helping in any way you can. Your kindness could make an extraordinary difference in our lives.
