James is more than a diagnosis. He's our son, a little brother, he's a warrior, and our reason to believe that a miracle is possible.
James was diagnosed with cystinosis on June 2nd 2026 after about 7 weeks of looking for answers as to why he stopped growing. Cystinosis is an ultra-rare genetic disease that affects his body in profound ways. Every organ in James's little body becomes damaged by crystals that form at a cellular level, starting with his kidneys and eyes.
We have always tried our best to handle everything on our own, financially. Asking for help is not easy for us, but right now, we need to be honest about what our family is facing.
James needs a lot of care. Between doctor appointments, lab testings, medications, specialists, supplements, travel, medical supplies, and all of the unexpected expenses that come with caring for a child with a rare disease, the cost adds up quickly.
We are doing everything we can, but the reality is that caring for James has financial consequences that we simply cannot always absorb on our own.
Giving James what he needs, requires missing work, which also means smaller paychecks. It means choosing between being at work to make ends meet, and being where our little boy needs us to be.
We are asking for help not just for some distant future treatment, but for the needs James has right now.
Your support can help our family with the everyday costs of keeping James healthy, keeping up with the bills, keeping normalcy with big sisters June and Jolene whom we are still trying to balance providing them with a great childhood and sheild them from all that James is facing. While also helping us prepare for the medical expenses that will come in the future.
We don't know what tomorrow will bring for James. While we whole heartedly believe in a miraculous miracle from God, we know there is a possibility James's miracle will come over time with medical intervention.
There will be more appointments.
More tests.
More medications.
More travel.
More time away from work.
But hopefully, one day, an opportunity for a treatment that could change his life will come.
We want to be prepared.
We want to be able to say yes to James' care when he needs it.
